SIGNED QB Bubba Starling

The QB at Clemson whose name eludes my memory(need KillerCacti on this one) and Garrett Lee down at LSU is another one. Lee did just agree with Dodgers if I recall correctly.

in addition to the others listed, either ricky williams or cedric benson (or maybe both) played in the minors in the summer while in college.

People need to realize that just because he retained Boras as an 'adviser' does not automatically mean he is going to play baseball. What it really means is that Bubba will get paid, and handsomely, because Boras will hold Nebraska over a teams head to give him money or else.

Basically, either a team will pay Bubba WELL above slot for where he is drafted, or he will be at Nebraska.

Really, it's more and more likely Bubba will go the MLB route. Cannot blame the guy when he will get paid the money he will get, when the option to come back to football will always be there. Chris Weinke was a 27 year old sophomore when he started his first game at FSU.

That's the major point here. He can go play MLB and then still come back to college football if that doesn't work out. That's a win-win right there.

That's the major point here. He can go play MLB and then still come back to college football if that doesn't work out. That's a win-win right there.

Oklahoma State's current QB, Brandon Weeden did exactly that. He was the 1st pick of the 2nd round by the Yankees in 2002 out of high school as a Pitcher. Played 5 years of minor league ball and it didn't work out. He walked on at Okie State in 2007 and the rest is history. He'll turn 27 this week.

I still don't understand why a kid can get payed to play BB and still come back and play FB as an "amateur", when a guy like Jeremy Bloom loses his eligibility because his skiing compensation came in the form of endorsements. While I am not at all in favor of paying student athletes anymore than their scholarships and tuition already cover. I do think that there are definitely double standards when it comes to what sports are and aren't o.k. for an athlete to participate in while playing CFB. IMO the NCAA needs to come to a better definition of what constitutes an "amateur athlete", because it is unfair in today's world to punish those who participate in unsalaried sports, while allowing others to accept million dollar contracts in one sport while being considered an amateur in another.

The ridiculous NCAA ruling on Jeremy Bloom is amongst the greatest blunders ever made in sports. We support paid professional athletes but not Olympic athletes - yeah, good call there NC double a**hats!!
