Six out of top 25 fall Maybe we get in?

Pitt losing doesn't get us ranked, though.

Guys - we lost to Iowa State. We should not be concerned with being ranked.
Exactly!!! Anyway, just to think that we could go 10-4 (if we win the next two games, loose to Texas and hopefully win our Bowl game) in Pelini's second year, went 9-4 his 1st. That is awesome, a lot of us hoped we would just have some kind of winning seasons period after the debacle that was 07. They keep doing what they are doing and the rankings will eventually come. Shoot, it is possible :koolaid2: that we could go 11-3 this year if we actually win out. Did I mention :koolaid2: .
...and to think that half of his losses would be to Tech schools...... :bang
I can some what deal with the two Tech school losses, it's the ISU one that still completely kills me. :steam

I'm not worried about the rankings right now, they only mean something to the top 5 or top 10 at the most. Style points and rankings mean nothing right now. We need to win against KSucks and get to Dallas.

For the love of God I hope we DO NOT SNEAK BACK into the Top 25.

We need to realize we deserve no respect right now. We have glaring concerns, we've played terrible games, and we need to get a whole LOT better. That is not the pessimist in me speaking - and as a fan, I have enjoyed these past two weeks immensely - but it is the reality the team must get impounded DEEP into their heads.

Because we absolutely cannot start to rest on imaginary laurels and think we've earned something so insignificant as a ranking. What good did our almost Top 15 ranking do for us when we got pounded by a NR team? For that matter, drop ALL the Suh Heisman hype. It's distracting. Stop the talk about how dominant our D has become.

And go play against KSU like we have the biggest chip in the world on our shoulders. Bo and Snyder again...should be interesting.

As a fan, I wonder why we want respect in the media. Who the hell cares about the media? They're below the Michigan Wolverines in the food chain. I want a team that keeps its head down and quietly does its own thing. It seems every time we sniff a little bit of hype everyone jumps overboard and basks in it, only to get whacked down a week or two later.

Save it for after we bring home a NC. And even then, don't let it last into the offseason.

/rant.

No the rankings dont matter. but here's my opinion. It's take a winout AND a win agains Texas to get back in. Theres just a perception against Nebraska right now in polling. We're just not "pretty" enough with not enough "PR" I'm callin it now. USC, after crapping their pants against Stanford, will still be in the top 15 because, well, it's USC and Pete Carroll and Kirk Herbstreit and Musberger just quiver to their knees when the hear or say that name.

Again i will say that being ranked is important. No one wants to go to a Lousiana-Lafayet, or a Bowling Green when they dont do much. They want to go to a USC, or a Flordia, Or a Oklahoma. Some team with a winning record and tradition. Alot of instate recruts want to go to instate schools. But someone who is good, really good wants to go to a high powered team. It helps to have a number around that team for most of the time. That number gives you national recognition. Im sorry but i think being ranked is a big thing for recruting. But thats just me.

I really don't agree with this. We would have been dropped from the rankings in years past after losing to Virginia Tech. We most certainly would have been dropped after losing again to Texas Tech. The fact that we clung on to the rankings after both of those losses tells me the perception of our team is changing.

If nothing else, the press loves a redemption story. It sells newspapers, and we were helping them do just that. If we can keep this rebuilding process going, look for some more love coming our way next year, too.

We just gotta stop with the bonehead losses.

I know but we didnt lose buy a large marg :) in. I would think they woudl take that into consideration. I would think they would be thinking more about the TT loss when we were at home and ranked 15th.
you said large marge.

No fewer than +3 internets for calling up that image so quickly :)

Neb is better than teams already in the top 25 so why not.

How many teams in the top 25 have lost to a team as poor as Iowa State in their own backyard when the poor team is missing their starting QB and RB? I'm not saying we couldn't beat a top 25 team, but I sure wouldn't say we're better than any top 25 teams either.

For the past few years the pollsters have seemed willing to give NU the benefit of the doubt, and then they get burned by our inability to beat a ranked team.

We haven't earned it yet.

And forgetting potential Top 25 opponents for the moment, are we anywhere near a lock against a K-State or Colorado?

The upside? I think this particular team plays better with a chip on its shoulder and the pressure backed off a tick.

Or has anyone else noticed they're better on the road than at Memorial Stadium?
