All those teams scored first, and most of those teams did it with big plays. KU didn't score first but they did score on a 53 yard play and were tied at the end of the quarter. Baylor of course had two long TD's in the first quarter, and we know what OU and CU did with their first couple of plays.

My point is, what if we figured out the offense prior to the start of the game?

What if we played error free football all game?

yeah I know this is a softball- pie in the sky post, but if we happen to put together 4 quarters of somewhat penalty free, and one or less turn-over football we'll win by 3 TD's

It's nice that we seem to be able to adjust as the game goes on (expect for OU and MO) but we tend to make things easy in the first half.

We have yet to play a complete game against a quality opponent this year... maybe in 2009 we will.

Didn't LSU give up a score on the first or second play of last years nat. champ. game? You're right though, we have to avoid the big plays and start strong. I'm going to guess that Clemson will be a little tougher to come back on the say San Jose State.

Ohio State returned the opening kickoff if I remember correctly.

Beanie Wells had a 50+ yd TD run on OH ST's first possession...LSU's D never really clamped down that much either, they gave up a lot of yards, but they forced some key turnovers...

Bo would usually let the opponent score once before he clamped down.

LET??

I don't think ANY coach with half a brain LETS the opposing team score first!

Sorry, not buying it....

BO knows football. He ain't LETTING anyone score on him.

BEAT CLEMSON!

Do you guys seriously believe that I think Bo actually has the defense step aside and clear a way for them to score? You're completely misunderstanding what I'm saying.

I'm sorry, I coulda swore you said:

Even when he was here the first time, Bo would usually let the opponent score once before he clamped down.
doesn't say step aside or clear a way for them but...

definitely says:

Bo would usually let the opponent score once
maybe I read that wrong. ;)

I look at it from the standpoint that the defensive coaches made good adjustments after they initially score.....last year they just kept scoring........

I'm just teasing, I think he means that sometimes Bo defenses start a bit slow.

He said "usually" but perhaps "on occasion" (like the occasions the op mentioned) the slow starting defense gives up a score early, causing defensive adjustments that usually work.

BEAT CLEMSON!!
