Slauson on RB's

From the GII:

Memorable maneuver

Players in Nebraska's camp were still buzzing Wednesday about I-back Kenny Wilson's 60-plus-yard touchdown run against the No. 1 defense during a scrimmage on Tuesday.

Apparently, Wilson broke several tackles before sprinting to the end zone -- a feat that impressed Nebraska tackle Matt Slauson.

"I just saw Kenny run into a hole of like five defenders and I'm (thinking), 'That was a pretty good gain. There's a seven-, eight-yard gain,' and all of the sudden, I seen him pop out and I was like, 'What?'" Slauson said. "He just took off and left everybody in the dust. This guy's the real deal."

Slauson said all four of Nebraska's top I-backs -- Wilson, Cody Glenn, Brandon Jackson and Marlon Lucky -- have had impressive practices. Wilson and Glenn have looked especially tough, Slauson said.

"I don't know what it is, but the defense just cannot tackle them," Slauson said. "It just a show -- it's the Kenny and Cody show. I mean, they're just running people over."

:yeah Well, minus the giant TV

Wilson's run kind of sounds like good ol' Tommie Frazier's touchdown run against Florida. Just keep those leg pumping.

I read that the defense did not want to watch that part of the practice film. I bet not. Bradley said they were trying to strip more than just tackle and they know it.

Go get 'em C-Train.

As I had mentioned on a prior thread, I would LOVE to see a 2-back set in the game with Kenny Wilson and Cody Glenn.

Speed, athleticism, skill, power, blocking ability, hard nosed mentality.

WHEWWW HEWWW!

Let's go get 'em HUSKERS!

Is it September 2nd yet? MY GOSH!

Let's roll C-TRAIN!!

The RB reports kinda make you wonder doesn't it. That's the problem with scrimmages. Your comparing your team to your team and then saying your great!

Makes you wonder if the offense has improved enough to make expose the weakness of the defense or if the defense has slipped enough to make the offense look really good. Maybe neither. My point is that scrimmages can tell you if guys are executing based on the competition but tells you nothing about how they will play agains the real competition.

yeah it is all up in the air until La Tech comes to town...then we all will know

why the hell is this month moving so damn slow :madash

I remember Osborne saying about his great teams: One practice the defense dominates, and the next practice the offense gets the upperhand. Hopefully this is the case. It also might mean the offense is better than anyone has imagined. And this is the WCO. In today's world, it appears a potent WCO offense -- and I hope ours is potent, but of course we don't know that yet -- seems to have the best chance of beating a strong defense.

Look at Texas last season. The Horns couldn't stop USC in the second half until that fourth and one -- which was huge -- late in the fourth quarter. Texas had a very strong defense. I think it was better than USC's, but Texas couldn't stop them at all until that most important 4th down. So it's possible that it not as much the defense as it is the offense really starting to jell. Yes, I might be totally wrong, but then again, maybe I'm not. We shall see pretty soon.

Normally this time of year defenses have a slight edge over offenses, but we may be the exception. With a returning QB, a rejuvenated offensive line, and a slew of fresh receiving and running back talent our offense just may be one of the best in the Big 12.

At least I hope so. But like several others have already pointed out, we need to wait until we see the team on the field.
