So NU SHould Have Went Back to the Big 12?

If there is anything I learned from the last round, its that the Big10 Presidents want AAU membership, other than ND gets an exception.

This limits the possibilities to KU, ISU, and ND, OR raid another conference.  All talk of TT or Okie St. or WV can just get shelved unless the Big10 gets desperate. 

Raiding the ACC at this point seems unlikely. We should be concerned about them raiding PSU. They can have Maryland back and Rutgers for that matter. 

PAC12 merger...maybe....but not a raid.

The SEC has the weakest GOR....I think. Maybe we get a pissed off Missou that wants to reunite with KU or a Vandy that wants to be associated with better academics.

The people that talk about these things talk about them from a football only wish-list standpoint, and football dollars are millions sure, but the cooperation on billions worth of grants between the CIC(or whatever it's called now) members and all the other university benefits beyond sports means you don't have Ohio States and Michigan's looking at the SEC and going "yeah totally worth it!"

The idiots that think the SEC grass is greener for any BIG school think that college is just basically the mini-NFL and forget that there's entire student bodies, professors, deans, boards, etc and the dollars that flow into universities from research would dwarf a 10 million dollar more TV contract.  There's no benefit.  It's not like college football's going to leave out Ohio State and Michigan regardless of what conference they are in, not to mention they're already in the most profitable one.

 Based on Warrens leadership and decision making as defined by many here as being just "the ballot counter" does ANYONE have confidence he is going to be able to successfully navigate the BIG through this storm? Or are we going to end up like the MAC Conference? While he was making sure all of the BIG kids were registered to vote and part of his diversity initiatives- the SEC was lapping him on the track. 

Do any schools CONSIDERING the BIG have ANY confidence in the bumbling Warren? Enough confidence to bet your job and the entire future of your program on? DOUBTFUL.

Relax. You think OSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn St, Iowa, Wisconsin would sit around and let Warren destroy their cash cow? Barry Alvarez now works in the league office, every AD and coach in the B1G probably has Barry's number. Warren gets canned and Barry takes over if KW is thinking of doing anything to weaken B1G football.

Won't happen.  You need 1/4 of the SEC to vote no in order to block a new member from joining.  A&M likes to think they are a quarter of the conference, but alas they are not.

Is Kevin Warren an Alpha though Franz? Is he out there right now scouting hot chicks to join our conference or is he playing D&D in Mark Schlissel's basement ignoring expansion? These are serious times here and we're not taking any ^@&#&#&#&#&$*$*$&.  D&D won't get us past the $EC! No sir!

Something tells me he is in the basement.  The guy just wants to be King and make decrees, but does not want to do any actual work.  As a conference, we picked the absolute worst time to change our leadership.

This isnt a group project- there has to be a visionary with great management skills leading the charge. Warren has done NOTHING to give anyone confidence he is qualified to be that man. He has stumbled and bumbled his way throughout his entire tenure here.  Sankey is literally running laps around the incompetent Warren. 

College football is at a very important crossroads and the BIG is arguably being led by someone not fit to run a tball league- let alone the second most important conference in College Football. If I was AD or President of any of the BIG schools, I wouldn't be sleeping well knowing Warren is leading the charge. It isn't the job of ADs or Presidents to do the defacto job of the commissioner. These arent the times to be lead by a COMMITTEE.  Look what SANKEY is doing- he's LEADING and he's killing it. Bringing OU and Texas in literally just day- or days after he got the playoff moved up to 12- so the SEC would have MORE spots in the playoffs with OU and Texas LOL.

 Exactly. He reminds me  of a few of the  big hat no cattle losers in Corporate America that I worked with. Did some low effort, low impact but visible things to score some points. Meanwhile the heavy lifting stuff that pays the bills is done by others. In the end- they Peter Principle out or actually have to perform real work and fail miserably. The brown noser politician types- that's Kevin Warren. He did some make work low effort, highly visible things that meant very little to the critical success factors needed to run the BIG. His only goal- score a few brownie points and wait for the NFL to call. Classic- so predictable. 

Be honest- If you're USC, Oregon, Washington. Are you willing to bet your job and your schools athletic future- and trust Kevin Warrens leadership and decision making? Do they really think that KW will make great decisions, be a solid safe and profitable haven? Knowing a new TV deal has to be negotiated very soon.

The enmity between ND and U of Michigan goes back at least 100 years to the days of Knute Rockne and Fielding Yost.  The Big10 is perceived as a big 2 + the others.  There are a lot of other justifications such as peer institutions, recruiting exposure, and independence.  But I think it boils down to the ever boiling rivalry between the two schools.

If OU and Texas to the SEC are done deals (which is not a given), raiding the Pac seems like the most plausible option for landing some big fish that we have, despite the logistics. (Ironically, we'd be in about the best position in the conference, being right in the middle and already used to long-distance travel.) And I can't see a scenario like KU + USC happening. If Pac schools join the Big Ten, it's probably gonna have to be a package deal for at least a couple of them because they'll want to maintain some existing regional rivalries.

Leverage in media contracts is the big one. The landscape is changing with the transition from cable to streaming, but that's still just another media contract.

Broader recruiting territory doesn't hurt, especially if we could get more exposure in California.

Disney seems like the most to lose if all of the valuable college football enterprises bundled their media together and sold it ala the NFL.  But they are constantly herding schools into a fewer number of larger conferences.

 
If quality is the goal for BIG, how much would they have to pay Notre Dame to join the BIG?

the 16th team- KU, FSU, Mizzou, ???

 This is all about football. 

But what if you are the Notre Dame baseball coach. Wouldn't it be your worst nightmare to go from being a top 10 baseball program in the ACC to being in the BIG where the commissioner obviously cares nothing about your sport and you get to play at places like Northwestern?
