Here is an article that explains some of the reasons for our dismissal from the AAU. It sounded like it was something they had been fighting for awhile but was bound to happen. Don't know if it can be put on Perlman's shoulders though. I think it was something even out of his hands.

ACADEMICS SHOULD BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN FOOTBALL. There are over FIFTEEN THOUSAND students at UNL and there are about 150 on the football team.

They have already (while under Perlman's leadership) started to get a closer relationship with UNMC.

That's why they will be building a building got the nursing school on Lincoln campus.

That's just one example.
