Some good news for 2006

Carriker was not a for sure first rounder. He would more likely go in the late second to third round. He said that if he was a lock for a first round pick, that he would leave, but he is still here, isnt he?

Southern California is losing its Thunder. It might be losing its Lightning, as well.

Running back LenDale White declared for the NFL draft on Wednesday.

White, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound junior, could be the third major offensive weapon to leave USC for the NFL this year, following the departure of quarterback Matt Leinart. Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush is set to announce whether he'll go pro or stay with the Trojans on Thursday.

White finished the 2005 season with 1,302 yards on 197 carries, including 124 yards on 20 carries in the Trojans' 41-38 Rose Bowl loss to Texas. In his three-year career, White had 541 carries for 3,159 yards

IMHO...White is better suited to take a pounding in the NFL, than Bush who weighs a mere 200 lbs. and i was impressed with how LenDale hit the holes and ran staight inot the line.......i think he will do well......

Bush also put on a lot of weight before this season. He worked out with Tomlinson last offseason so he knows what it takes. I'm sure he'll be fine in the NFL.

 
Mack Brown, as well as, Paterno, have been stocking up on 4 and 5 star players for several years. That's the reason that Frosh do so well with that supporting cast. Callahan needs about 2-3 more classes to try to get even, since the NU program's recruiting has been in shambles prio to his arrival. Or, in other words, UT next year, without Young, has more talent. (But then so did UM!!.)

paterno's so-called 4-5 star players have really under preformed{austin scott to name one}however never worry,state penn....oopps sorry penn state will return to the bottom half of the big ten in 2006. :restore2

 
My impression is that Pterno knew he had to do 2 things get the team back on top: new assistants and top recruits. Does anyone know what staff changes he has made?

im actually disappointed that we dont get to face these talented athletes next year. Even though the majority believe we would be murdered by said talent i still would love to see Nebraska win against these guys. Regardless both teams (USC, Texas) are still talented we have one advantage. Zac Taylor. The kid can throw the ball and make plays as he is getting hit. look at the michigan game. Michigan came at him all night and he threw those two interceptions in the 2nd quarter IIRC. The defense really bailed him out too but thats what a great defense will do for you. After he adjusted he threw pretty well in the 2nd half even as he was getting nailed. he did that throughout latter half of the 2005 season. in fact im afraid that if he doesnt get pressured he will mess up :sarcasm

Texas and USC will be breaking in new quarterbacks and running backs. dont get me started on USC's defense(nonexistent). Texas' D didnt look that good in the Rose Bowl but they slowed down USC, OSU, and every other Big XII team they faced.

With all the talent coming back next year and the new recruits fighting to make an impact i say we have a good chance at doing something special next year. but as always its possible we fall flat on our collective faces. I prefer the former(not you FF).

USC has a tough early schedule......not with the scheduled opponents but with the fact that they are breaking in a new quarterback, new running back, and three-fifth's of their offensive line. i have no doubt that carroll will have them ready to play, but I really doubt that they will be able to produce anywhere close to what Lienheart, White, and Bush could do for the Trojan offense from this past year.

Matua already has, according to what I saw on the espn crawl. USC might be a little down next year from where they were the last couple. Perfect opportunity for the Huskers to come to L.A. and punch em in the mouth.

 
I'd agree that the talent leaving these teams will leave the naysayers leaving comments that we didn't play the same UT or USC of last year; that we played a far less superior team.

My arguement to counter would point out that perhaps NU is just that much better. :thumbs

or the trick they used with Nebraska vs Michigan--

before the game it was: "if they beat Michigan they'll get some respect- but actually they'll lose by 40".

then after NU actually did beat Michigan it was "well, michigan wasn't all that great"

I wouldn't be surprised to hear the same thing next year if we actually beat Texas and/or USC.
