Heisman Trophy Winner
Journal Star
With 124 all-purpose yards Saturday night, senior I-back Marlon Lucky pushed his career total to 3,634, good for fourth on Nebraska's career chart. He trails only Heisman Trophy winners Johnny Rodgers (5,586) and Mike Rozier (5,445), as well as Ahman Green (4,280).
With 103 rushing yards Saturday night, Lucky became the 24th player in school history to rush for 2,000 yards (he now has 2,045). He's the first Husker to surpass 2,000 since Cory Ross in 2005.
Lucky has scored at least one touchdown in six straight games. He has caught at least three passes in 16 of the past 21 games.
He has eight career 100-yard rushing games.
Some other numbers of interest:
Nebraska rushed for 330 yards against New Mexico State, marking the first time the Huskers have topped 200 rushing yards since last season against Oklahoma State (a span of eight games). The 330 rushing yards were the most since the Huskers began last season with 413 against Nevada.
Also, it was only the fourth time Nebraska has topped 300 yards on the ground since the start of the 2004 season.
However, Nebraska has now scored at least 35 points in each of the past six games. The six straight games is the third-longest streak in school history. NU scored 35 or more points in eight straight games in 1989 and had 35 or more in a school-record 13 games starting with the 1995 season and continuing to the 1996 opener.
Nebraska has gained 400 or more yards of total offense in seven of the past eight games (the Huskers are 4-4 in that stretch).
