Oh come on, Pat Fitzgerald at #8--really? REALLY? I don't think so. Unless TSN factored boyish good looks into the equation. Which is certainly conceivable for that Internet fishwrapper TSN.The Sporting News
1. Urban Meyer, Ohio State.
2. Nick Saban, Alabama.
3. Gary Patterson, TCU.
4. Chris Petersen, Boise State.
5. Les Miles, LSU.
6. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma.
7. Chip Kelly, Oregon.
8. Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern.
9. Bobby Petrino, Arkansas.
10. Bret Bielema, Wisconsin.
Fitz is absolutely a top 10 coach. He competes in the Big Ten and once a year or so beats one of the conference's elite with practically MAC level talent. He's kind of like a younger better version of Bill Snyder who should also make the list. Personally I'd take Bielema, Stoops, Peterson and Paterson clear off the list.Oh come on, Pat Fitzgerald at #8--really? REALLY? I don't think so. Northwestern was 6-7 this year. Top ten coaches don't lose 7 games. Or get beat by Army.Fitz is absolutely a top 10 coach. To be clear....I'm talking about coaching ability...not success on a national scene...but anyhow I mean look at the history of Northwestern football, Fitz and his more recent predecessors have done amazing things with barely anything talent wise. Just discipline and intelligence. He's a damn good coach. I'd kill to have him.
Agreed. Love him or hate him, Snyder can flat out coach.Fitzgerald>Pelini this year for sure. As much as I can't stand him, Snyder probably does as much with less then anyone and should be somewhere on that list.
