Spring Game - April 16, 2016 @ 1:00 PM

53,000 tickets sold so far. Looks like it might be sunny and in the low 70's.

With about 10 days left before the game and really nice weather (knock on wood) I can see this getting into the mid 65,000

What I'm trying to figure out is how many walk-up tickets we sold last year?

I'd guess with a nice weather day, we'd hit that total again.

I'm hoping we can get in the 70K range again.

Ice, I don't know people that buy them the day of the game but I would think it has to be in the 5K or more range, wouldn't you think?

Yes but perhaps more. Take a look at this

Last Year:

Apr 7 - 62,500

Apr 8 - 65,000

Final April 11 - 76,881

2016

Apr 6 - 52,000

Final April 16 - ???

Last years numbers suggest 10k in walk-up ticket sales.

We still have 10 more days to sell tickets, I would expect we hit 70K, if not more.(Final attendance)

Back in the day, walking up to the gate was the normal way of getting Spring Game tickets. In fact, in the mid-90s you could walk up to the stadium and watch the game for free. After a while they started taking food donations, or $1 or $2 if you didn't bring a can of food. Then they started charging, and I'm not sure what the cost was, but it wasn't $10 at first.

For many years, TO had started and I guess they continued the parents bring their kids and all get in free so long as they promised to say the "Just Say No to Alcohol, tobacco and drugs!" pledge at half time down on the field. This was very popular and I thought was a great way to get children involved and building future fan interest. Many little ones become grown up fans after remembering those trips down on to the turf, etc. I suppose this becomes unwieldy when you have more than 50,000 fans.

They do raise money when they can sell this many tickets. But, they should still be letting kids in free in my opinion. Future ticket buyers are worth cultivating.
