spring game?

i am just curious if anyone knows anything about this.

is it possible, according to NCAA rules, to scrimmage with another team for the spring game? obviously it wouldnt be someone we play during the season, but something like UNL vs UNO or UNL vs IOWA (not Iowa state).

i think that would make the spring game more interesting and tell us and our coaches a lot more about where the players are than the current spring game does.

just thought i would see if anyone knows if that is OK by the rules.

thoughts?

thanks :hellloooo

I don't think it is allowed, but I would not mind seeing an UNL/UNO spring game.

It's not allowed. But it would be interesting to see UNO/NU scrimmage.

Having said that, anyone think UNO's coach, Berhns would be a decent Div 1 coach? He's done well at UNO. Not to say he's ready for NU...but I wonder...

Interesting that DI basketball programs can scrimmage each other. According to our local paper report the scrimmage is 'locked' so no fans nor press are permitted.

K State has scrimmaged against Marquette now the last two years on a 'home and home' basis.

I'm pretty sure it is allowed...and I know the soccer team has spring scrimmages against other universities...

I think I've heard the guys on 1620 the zone bring up Iowa as a possible opponent...

the volleyball team does as well. i imagine because of the physical and rather secretive nature of football, the coaches want to keep things as controlled as possible. letting some guy from an opposing team come in and rack up your quarterback during spring practice is not very desirable.

I would just like to see us go back the old system with 1's vs 1's and 2's vs 2's. I know the current system is supposed to help recruiting but what kind of dupe doesn't realize having 1's against the back-ups proves squat?

I don't know --- I am not sure that I could take it were UNO to win!
