I dunno. I guess it's good to honor coaches and other leaders.

But part of me thinks back on the Devaney I remember. I was awful young, but he struck me as so old school piss and vinegar that he might well have been offended at the thought of a statue of himself being put up.

Maybe that's why we waited so long.

I recall a different sort of response from Osborne. After the third MNC, there was a serious attempt to rename Memorial Stadium and change it to Osborne Stadium. Tom came out against it immediately, saying something like, "Memorial Stadium honors an awful lot of veterans who gave a lot more than any football coach ever could."

The compromise, of course, was Tom Osborne Field at Memorial Stadium. I think that was a decent compromise.

I'm just not really in favor of memorializing people while still living, or at least working, at the institution. See the JoePa statue. Of course, this is long overdue, if it were going to be done, for Devaney. I just chuckle to think what his response would be, were he still with us.

The sellout will never end. Donors and businesses will buy the tickets if it ever got close, but ultimately that will never happen. A sell out is sell out is selling the tickets, not putting people in the stands
They already do. My employer has 4 different sets throughout the stadium aside from his and his son's that he gives away to clients and employees. It's hard to say the streak is manipulated because one way or not, the place is or near full every game, but it pretty much is. Yet, like was said, a sellout's a sellout. Like the 9 wins discussion. If it's so easy to do or not that big of deal, then why doesnt everyone do it?

Well I know last season it was on the Northwest side of the stadium while they were working on the new East stadium addition. I didn't get around there for the first game to see if it was still there.

My idea for the Legacy statue is to put it back in it's original place outside of East stadium. That way with the new Bob Devaney statue underneath the archway at Gate 20, it would look like the coach is on the sidelines watching his players. What do you all think of this?

It's actual "original" place is where the Devaney statue is now, maybe even further inside than that.

But they could slide it out. Kind of a cheesy philosophy, though.
