Staff Changes

Hopefully someone that can recruit/develop bigs and values defensive rebounding.

So basically someone every single school in the country would want sans like Houston. Lol.

Not official yet. But a name to watch is South Alabama Associate Coach Adam Howard. He is a defensive guy that can recruit and is definitely someone we could use to get these guys playing better defense. At South Alabama he used match up zones and put in some full court pressure on makes. Should be interesting to see what he can do defensively IF he is hired.

Supposedly a defensive in-your-face type of pressuring defensive advocate. We can only hope.

(I remember when we hired Doc the first time, his presser told us his defensive style would be akin to watching a tennis match because of the constant back and forth issues it would necessitate for the watcher.  Turned out..........Ahh, not so much in reality.

The sad reality is unless we put an emphasis on blocking out (which we haven’t done for what feels like at least 5+ years) we will continue to lose games. We play poor defense as it is and then on top of that we don’t finish possessions by defensive rebounding.

Pardon me if my memory is poor.  But, wasn't his defense pretty good the first time he was here and that's why he was brought back as the defensive coach?

No, I think your memory is just fine.  I was just ruminating on remembering how his introductory presser (I was listening on the radio) gushed about  how they would be almost frantic (my wording) on defensive pressures. Alas, we eventually morphed into bottom feeders statistically........especially guarding the 3.
