So ..... are we good to speculate in here?  If not, skip ahead.

So it would appear (to me) that Luke tried to train Kylo and failed leading to Kylo's turn to the dark side and Luke's probably self-imposed exile.

That may have been suggested before but that sure seems to be what they set up that trailer to imply.

I think it was Han (maybe Leia) that says that one of Luke's students went bad and Luke blamed himself. I don't think they came out and said explicitly why Luke was in exile but heavily implied it.

Yep, and there was speculation that it was Kylo Ren or Mara Jade.  Not sure if that conversation happened here or Reddit or where I saw that.

 
Yeah I guess it wasn't spelled out explicitly that it was Ren, but Han very clearly makes reference to Luke trying to rebuild the Jedi order, but exiling himself when an apprentice turned to the dark side and slaughtered all the other apprentices/destroyed the temple.

 
Wow - dude puts it as his second favorite all time. Very high praise.

I'm pumped after listening to that, too. I loved TFA but definitely felt the story was an extravagant rehashing of familiar themes.

I'm rewatching TFA tonight in preparation. Tickets are in hand for Saturday. Let's go!!!!

I rewatched TFA too, its just a bridge but it gets you pumped for VIII!
