Starting out learning acoustic guitar

Thread necro!

Thought I'd give an update on this in case anyone was interested. I was playing pretty heavily for about a month or so back when I started the thread, then I got busy and distracted and lost interest for a while. Started back up again about a month ago, just recently getting my calluses to a nice place. Anyways, I've been plucking away whenever I could and so far I've satisfactorily learned:

3AM - Matchbox 20

For the Moments I Feel Faint - Relient K

The Messenger - Linkin Park

Closing Time - Semisonic

Wonderwall - Oasis

I Want it That Way - Backstreet Boys

Good Riddance - Green Day

Mighty to Save - Chris Tomlin

Holy is the Lord - Chris Tomlin

Broken - Secondhand Serenade

You & Me - Lifehouse

Kountry Gentleman, Wobble - Family Force 5

a pretty modest list to be sure but it's sure been enjoyable!
My wife would love it if I played some Family Force 5. She seems to think everything I play and/or listen to is hippie music. Are you just doing chords now or picking leads or arpeggios?

Nice to know someone else is familiar with them! :) I'm mostly just proficient with chords, but have learned a few songs with picking patterns and such. To add to the list:

By Your Side - Tenth Avenue North

The First Time - Family Force 5

This is a Call - Thousand Foot Krutch

Rolling in the Deep - Adele

Getting Into You - Relient K

The first two and the last one have picking parts, but it's hard to be patient with them when I screw up :P If anyone has some suggestions for some mildly harder stuff I'm definitely up for hearing them.

Here are some good songs to learn.

Sympathy- Goo Goo Dolls

How I Go- Yellowcard

Your Guardian Angel- Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Sing to Me- Yellowcard

I've been playing off and on for the better part of 20 years. I've never taken a lesson, and i'm kicking myself for not doing so. My ear's pretty good, but I can't read music to save my life.
