Starting Tailback?

IMHO Lucky has the most to prove this year, came here with the most hype, most stars, etc....so far average performer at best, unable to understand the offense, if he studied the playbook at all in the off season, he SHOULD show something this spring........

Fox Sports Big XII Preview

Nebraska Spring practice starts March 22, Spring Game April 15

The big spring question is ... How will all the top recruits from the last two years fit in? Obviously most of the 2006 class won't hit campus until later this summer, but the sensational 2005 group should start to show what it can do. Considering how big last year's class was, and how many JUCO players were brought in over the last two years, no team in the Big 12 should have a better upgrade of talent on the two-deep roster.

The most important position to watch is ... Running back. Did you ever think you'd see the day when Nebraska would be dead last in the Big 12 in rushing? Of course, the increased emphasis on the passing game had something to do with it, but Callahan initially sold old school Husker fans that the offense would be balanced. Considering the talent in the Nebraska backfield, there's no excuse to see fewer than 100 rushing yards per game. Marlon Lucky, after showing next to nothing as a true freshman, has to live up to the hype.

Spring attitude... This had better be the year the turnaround is complete. Beating Michigan in the Alamo Bowl was a fantastic feather in Callahan's cap after an awful 2004, and now it's time the program took the next step up and played for the Big 12 title. The North might be better than it was over the last few years, but it's not that great.

My worry is that All are Hyped and none are proven. Lucky didn't hit the holes quik enough and didn't seem to have great field vision last year. I think this is the reason Leon Jackson is being moved back in to the RB position.

and the same reason Kenny Wilson attracted out attention....we shall see, but so far as we know, there just is no favorite......hope someone emerges as the guy we want to have 10-15 touches per game....

Harvey, read the article that AR provided a link for. Bo Jackson did not run a 4.28. The fastest 40 time ever recorded was 4.38, by the world record holder in the 60 meter, who happened to be on steriods, with a tailwin, the fastest men in the world chasing him, years of track training, 100,000 people cheering him on, so forth, so on. Bo Jackson did not run that fast without track cleets, on turf, with no starting blocks, with a guy with a stopwatch encouraging him... period.

What do you think Marlon Lucky's time in the 40 is? That dude could be the gamebreaker NU needs. Every time he touched the ball in 05', you just got the feeling that something special could happen. Should be more of the same in 06.
For some reason I thought the opposite. I thought somthing bad was going to happen when he touched the ball.

I tend to think it will be someone other than Lucky. I have seen flashes that indicate possiblity, but I just do not think he is all he is hyped up to be. Glen is a work horse, but the fact that they brought in Wilson and are giving Leon a shot indicated to me there is something not quite right.

It crossed my mind that they are bringing him in and letting Leon have a chance to motivate Glenn or Lucky. Maybe thats just a way I see it.

Whoever follows their blocks and can pass block will probally start - That was Lucky's biggest problem last year and Cody Glenn wasn't much better. Who knows ho Kenny Wilson will adapt to D-1 - Let's hope all 3 get it together, that way they can shuttle in fresh RB's all game which will help kill the clock in the 4th quarter - That way Taylor won't get punished all the time.

I like the depth. Glenn or Lucky will start, the others will see quite a bit of time...LJack will be a major mover in the spring, and the JUCO kid will do just fine.

I feel sorry for BJax...he is solid, but not durable...too bad.

i really don't think Glenn or Lucky need motivation to play.......hell the spot is open and there for the taking........someone needs to show they can be a complete back and handle all their assignments, simple as that.....if that doesn't happen we will likely have situational roles for all 3, which i would rather not see....relax, sit back and watch.....we will have a pretty good idea by the end of spring as what to expect............
