Yeah your right he's not taking a originally option based team and turning the playbook around 180 degrees and going the other way with the west coast offense..........the players that were there when he got there weren't recruited for this type of offense. :hmmm
Yeah, but it still seems like it'd be easier for a coaching staff to adapt to their 124 players' strengths than the other way around.....to turn a running back into a passer..Or to magically transform great run blockers into pass protectors...A WCO coach might not know much about Option Football, but you'd think he could wing it for a year or two while he gets "His type" of players into the system...We would owe that much to the existing players.
I can see them trying to put on a show for future recruits that we are indeed commiting to the WCO, But how inflexable can you be as a coach?
What was it they used to say about Bear Bryant?..."He can take His'n and beat Your'n...And he can take Your'n and beat His'n".
