Steven Octavien

he didnt say what I was correct about, maybe he ment that I was correct in saying that I could be wrong.

anyway, can anyone answer this, did Steve apply for a Med RS or not

I hope that I am wrong also, but knowing that one bad hit and it can all be over will influence his decision.

Just my opinion

Octavien will be the best defensive player on the team this year behind Carriker. He is so fast and aggressive, and he seems to see the field very well also. I could see him having an absolutely huge year. I predict 6+ interceptions and 6+ sacks on the year. There is a reason why the Husker offensive players fear him. Lets just hope he doesn't go pro early- I would love to have him around for a couple more years.

I agree hopefully he stays healthy this year and stays for a couple of years to refine his skills if he really needs it!!! :cheers

And we need him. We will lose Carriker, Moore, and Stew Bradley. Him, along with McKeon, Turner, and Ruud will have to step up. Hopefully he returns.

I forgot about D. Williams. I would say, at the very least, he was as talented as Farley, but I disagree that Ruud is more talented. Ruud is very good, don't get me wrong. Stew is very good. But I don't consider either one a difference maker. Farley was, Williams was, and Octavien should be. McKeon (sp?) perhaps could be considered a difference maker -- there's something about his personality that's unlike anyone else.

I possibly see as many as four difference makers on defense -- Carrricker, Octavien, Bowman and McKeon. Could be a great defense.

Good points.

I see one other possible difference maker on defense - Grixby. If he can learn - or is taught - to turn for the ball he could really pick off more than a few passes this year with his leaping ability. And you have to think offenses will pick on him, given the options.

I am sure more than one person has mentioned to Grixby, "Turn around, Please Turn around" I think his play will be elevated this year and people will not be so quick to throw at him.

They will have to throw somewhere. With Grixby being a being a lot shorter, the opponents will test him more than Bowman regardless of how well he plays. But I do agree that Grixby could have a very good year.

I have a fear that pass happy offenses with big receivers (read Iowa State and USC) will continually go after Grixby because of his size, but he will be greatly improved this year with some experience under his belt. I'm sure that most teams will try to work him over, but hopefully he'll come through. He'll never be a shut down corner, but he could be fairly solid this year. You've gotta love Grixby because of his size and the way he plays- much in the same way you just had to love Cory Ross. They utterly sacrifice their small frames to make plays.

Luckily Grixby has a great vertical, so he will be able to jump up and knock the passes away. It will be interesting so see if Andre Jones is developed enough by the SC game. Put him in with Bowman and Grix, and those corners could cause a lot of trouble for SC.
