The first blog definitely gives you the idea Mandel doesn't like NU (and I've never like this guy either <_< ). The second one on Koetter and the subsequent responses was pretty interesting to read. A lot of ASU fans and alumni are extremely pissed off Koetter let Keller go.

I'd be upset too. Can you imagine if Harrison Beck had a cool head on his shoulders and was playing well and BC named him the started over Taylor after everything Taylor did last year.... Keller is most likely more talented then Taylor also

Don't worry about Mandel. I'm sure he has no vendetta against NU, and he's listed us as one of 16 national title contenders this year.

Hey, that means that we got somebody good, then.

Condolences to ASU, sincerely

But when a group gets upset about someone leaving, it usually means such a someone was worth getting upset over.

Think if you will with me for a moment. Zac Taylor has a great year ...gets drafted into the NFL.

Keller comes in and has a great year. ....Gets drafted into the NFL.

Back to back QBs drafted will get the very top HS QBs running to Nebraska.

Mandel is not anti-husker. I find him to be fairly level headed in most cases. Of all the college football writers I like him and Terry Bowden the most. They are neither pro nor anti-husker, and what Mandel is saying here is true. I think that Keller will be able to pick up on the offense, but he'll have to keep his nose to the grindstone. I don't think that there is a problem with a WCO in college football, but you cannot throw a freshman QB into it like you can with other systems. You need someone who has studied it for at least 1 year and preferably 2.

I never really understood where all this hype about freshman qbs starting came from anyway. If you look around the country there were three qbs people were saying would push for immediate playing time.

Matthew Stafford enrolled early at Georgia to participate in spring ball and he's a 3rd stringer at the start of the season. Mitch Mustain is also a 3rd string qb at Arkansas and from what I've read Chris Leak is still the clear #1 at Florida. The only high profile program I can think of with a young starting qb is Texas, and that's simply because they don't have anyone else. People love to call the WCO too complicated but if you ask me Taylor picked it up well enough in a year's time and as soon as we establish some sort of continuity at the qb position this will be a non-issue.

easy...wouldn't go that far...maybe he is talented...but you have to know the offense...give him his year to find out for sure.
