Stillwater Regional - Thunderin Bolts vs Florida (Round 2)

Yep, was watching the game. I'm ok with that. Florida and LSU fans are genuine and down to earth so I can celebrate with the gators fans. Not sure who will be able to handle them in a 3 game matchup. The day 1 matchup against clemson is huge. If clemson loses the day 1 matchup that regional won't see a Sunday game.

I tend to disagree, Nebraska ended up scoring the last 5 runs on the back, back end of Florida's bullpen so the decision to stick with Perry didn't really sway much. I wish Perry would've had a better regional experience. Getting knocked around in your last appearance in a Husker uniform isn't probably the way he hoped he'd go out.

The tourney went as expected. That ball park didn't suit the way our Huskers play and both Florida and Okie State have big bats. Either of those two teams can reach Omaha.

Huskers had a somewhat impressive year. Many players showed huge amounts of resiliency and heart. Sadly, the Huskers lacked a closer and it took the post season for one of the teams best players to figure things out. Had Swanson played the entire season with the confidence he played the post season with I think the Huskers would have hosted.

I'm not a huge fan of the way Bolt recruits and seemingly prefers Juco players over High School but what do I know? Answer: nothing. 40 wins is an accomplishment. The Huskers played a top 30ish schedule, won the B1G tourney for the first time and had the best pitcher in the conference, the top catcher in the conference (imo) and the best Friday/Saturday combo in the conference. That will be hard to replicate. The season started with a projected 5th place finish and ended with a 2nd place finish and conference tourney crown. I'd say those are more then memorable accomplishments and something Husker Nation can celebrate. Huskers season ended sooner than any of us hoped but they gave the fans something to cheer for. Bolt and the coaching staff are on solid ground. The university administrators and athletic administration need to reward the program with things Bolt has asked for in the past. (Stronger commitment to NIL money, New Locker Room & Updated Training facilities)

2024 is over.. the Huskers season was a refreshing example of hope. 2025, with the addition of the 4 new schools will be a new chapter with new challenges and I for one am excited to see how things progress. There's 3 really good young arms on the team and 1 really good arm coming in. I think the bats will be stronger next year and I won't be shocked if Caron returns. (I think it really bothers him not being given conference awards)

To the 2024 Seniors, Thank You!! Good Luck to all of you. Forever may you find the lane and drive it to fence.

I think is a pretty fair breakdown. Hopefully this quiets the loud (but extremely small) fire Bolt crowd. A couple more midweeks here or there would've been great but overall, they ran into a very talented Florida team that finally put the pieces together.

Those clamoring for the DVH days should take a look at what's happened down in Arkansas this past weekend. This is two straight years of Arkansas not being able to even get out of their own regional despite having arguably the best pitching staff in the country (I know that Brady Tygert their #2 guy was hurt). I can only imagine the level of vitriol that has being spewed at those guys.

Florida sweeps #6 Clemson 2-0 to get to Omaha.

Clemson hit a go-ahead homerun in the top of the 13th.  Then two Clemson coaches got ejected.  No idea what happened; neither did the ESPN guys.  Florida hits a walk-off, two-run double in the bottom of the 13th.

That was all after this catch kept Clemson in the game:
I'm NOT a conspiracy guy, but I would allow that the Huskers have drawn some interesting matchups from the NCAA in recent pairings. Couple of years ago getting #1 Seed Arkansas in the regional; then basketball drawing Tex A/M immediately after the Trev Arnold Saga; then getting placed in a regional that had a Florida team (that a lot of commentators thought should not even have been invited...yet certainly talented enough to win it all).

Hopefully, future matchups will become more "routine".

With Florida making the CWS again, I wonder if some of the gnashing of teeth is going to die down after Nebraska lost to them twice (to be clear, I'm not pointing to anyone on the board). I'll never, ever, ever feel bad for Clemson but if I were a Clemson fan I'd wonder what voodoo hex has been placed on my program as this is the second straight year where an uber talented but underperforming SEC team has been plopped in their way for the postseason.
