Oh sweet. Maybe this will work as well as all the swell "blackouts" our awesome students section has tried to put on previously...
:yeah I don't think I want Bo either, I'd rather go through the process of chosing a coach rather than jump right into it. I loved the blog on coacheshotseat.com that went through possible head coaches. I'm intrigued by the guy from Navy....And also Jim Grobe. People who are proven recruiters and head Coaches...Hmm.. Pelinipedia? I guess if 75% (so called majority) agree it must be right. Just like Wiki...I know's there's a few of you who don't want Pelini back but I definately think your in the minority. SO let's get the student section going this Saturday just like in the Alamo Bowl...."WE WANT BO!" If we can get it rolling and on the news I think it'll definately make a statement of what Husker Nation wants & deserves!
By the way, I could care less what Callahan might think---as far as I'm concerned what better way to send a message not to let the door hit you in the butt. Personally, when I watch him on TV now I just think he looks lost and completely out of his element.
The better idea is to enjoy the game, cheer, be loud, have fun, and show some respect for the team. Why kick a man when he's down? Cally will be gone. Be a grown up about it.
I feel strongly about this. If you want to spend the week writing letters, creating websites, posting, making phone calls, holding campus rallies, etc. in order to voice your preference for a new coach, I'm all for it. But on Saturday, at the game, we should be using our energies to support the team.EXACTLY. I don't consider it being rude at all, it's passion and we should have a voice in what happens to our university.Whatever the student section wants to be enthusiastic about is cool with me. Passion rocks.
It's their school. As an alum, I'm a bit saddened by people belittling blackouts or whatever else the students might want to cheer about.
It means they care. That's what we want.
This is football and the touchy feely stuff is getting old. Don't get me wrong, I feel deeply for these players but suck it up & play the game...that red N on the helmet means something!

If you feel so deeply for the players, don't make them feel any worse by completely disgracing the coaching staff they are trying to work under to win the game. No matter how much you think the coaching staff has disgraced itself, like it or not, the outcome of the games is in their hands. Try to put yourself in the shoes of the players and imagine what a distraction those kinds of chants (and boos for that matter) are on top of all the other distractions.
T.O. is in charge and we should all trust him to make the right decision at the end of the year. I certainly have enough confidence in him to do so without the help of the student section on Saturdays.
Just curious ...All nineteen of the them will be yelling in their black shirts, hidden behind their newpapers so who cares.
It is a pathetic group any way. No one will hear them or notice them as usual. Most will have left by half time anyway. No loss, no concern.
My point was only that "once the helmets get strapped on," to borrow someone else's phrase, we should be doing what we can to help the team win, which means cheering for them. To use the game as a stage for exressing new coaching preference does a disservice to the team thats out there on the field. If the students want to chant that then cool with me. If people want Bo to coach what a great way to let people know.
Just last week we all wanted this staff gone. PUD gets, axed, TO is in, and now many are saying "just let TO decide!"
No, make your voices heard regardless of who is AD. I'm sure he'll make a great choice and bring back much of the husker tradition but that doesn't mean we all have to sit by and passively watch.
Your entitled to that opinion of course but honestly I disagree. I would be more dissapointed if the student section did nothing game after game year after year. It's school spirit & school pride...their gonna do things at times that make no sense at all. hahaNot a student, but a fan for over 50 years.
I attend quite a few games. But I am sick and tired of their pathetic attempts to change traditions and embarass the program. It may be their university now, but it belongs to a lot before them also.
I have yet to see one of their so called statements to ever come to bloom. This one will not only embarass the team, the staff, and mostly Coach Osborne. Bad idea. He has given up his family and time, and at his age that is quite a big deal. Let him do his job, trust me he knows more about it than some drunk 19-22 year old.

Yes this school belongs to everyone from top to bottom but those kids in the student section play a big part in keeping the juices flowing so to speak.
Oh by the way, I do agree with one thing, this is a huge under taking by Coach Osborne, he should be applauded (loudly)! He's quite possibly the most honorable man I've ever met.
All Nebraskans have full standing. I wondered where your comment about "all 19 of them" was coming from, though. Seemed anti-student.Not a student, but a fan for over 50 years.
