My first disagreement with this whole back and forth is that they aired the 1993 Orange Bowl when FSU supposedly beat Nebraska. Heh, enough on that don't want to see the doc again about high blood pressure.
Anyway, so I send them this simple request:
Subject: Florida/Nebraska Fiesta Bowl
Question/Comment: Could you please put the Nebraska/Florida 95' Fiesta Bowl on your schedule? I just love watching Spurrier pace the sideline with no answers. Let's see the Huskers take em' behind the woodshed one more time! Go Huskers!
Their response:
Thanks for your message. Sorry, but we don't have the rights to any bowl games. The TV rights to all bowl games belong to the bowls, not the teams
My reply:
This is not true. You aired the Nebraska/FSU 1993 Orange Bowl. I just think you are selective to airing only those games which a Florida team prevails.
Their reply:
That's correct. That was the one exception as we have a sponsorship relationship with the Orange Bowl here in Florida and they permitted us to replay that game. As a Florida sports network, we do not have a relationship with the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona and therefore we cannot get rights to their games. We always, per our contracts with the schools, air an equal number of wins for both FSU and UF in any of our "Gridiron Greats" type series. That series is designed to show key victories, not losses, for both schools as part of our TV agreements with those two Florida-based schools.
So they state that they air equal amount of of wins (per school) as part of their contract. As I see it, it's Florida schools 1, Nebraska 0.
It's too bad they don't air Miami or my next request would be the 1994 Orange Bowl. That'd seem fair and even the score.
What gets me is that I know Nebraska sells the VHS/DVD of the 93' Orange Bowl, yet I doubt any of these Florida teams bother with the 24-17 victory we had over Miami, or the whoopin' Stevo took in 95' when we unleashed with a 62-24 victory.
These Florida people live in a freakin' shell.
