Friend of mine that's in the a.d. @ Tech says that the goal of all of this is ultimately for the Big 10 and Pac-10, with their new "members" from the Big 12, to TOGETHER have their own championship each year and call that winner the "national champion." Leaving the ACC, Little East, and SEC out in the cold.

Hmmm.

Not saying your wrong, but I dont see how this works in any way. The NCAA and BCS would have to be blown up or the two conferences would have to split from the NCAA which would cause a sh!t storm in Washington and a litany of lawsuits.

Agreed. While this may cause the BCS and/or the NCAA to restructure or implode, I can't imagine this scenario.

Now, there may be some loose alliance with the Big and Pac 10's, but splitting off onto their own???? Sounds like something from the saltwater aquarium guy that I keep hearing about.

I've heard they're working toward 4 mega conferences, 16 teams each, to trim the fat and break away from the BCS.

That's like MLB calling their teams' winning performance in the playoffs the 'World' Champs, even though only one country plays the games. (And of course Toronto doesn't count ;) )

I see a 4 team playoff in the future, you have to be in one of the big 4's to get in and you have to win the conference. or maybe a 6 team, where two teams get bi's and there are two wild cards for all the other conferences to fight over. that would keep polls relevant which is part of the fun
