SUPPORT YOUR TEAM, PEOPLE!!!

Senior receiver Maurice Purify admitted Tuesday he was “kind of angry at the fans.”
He said they put on their red shirts and caps, then they come down behind the bench when Nebraska’s trailing and voice opinions of negativity.

Said Purify: “They'll say, ‘You guys suck.’ I’m like, if you’re going to support us when we’re winning, why can’t you support us when we’re losing?”

this is just ridiculous. I can't believe "fans" are saying this. They don't deserve to wear RED

I've been more disappointed in the fans in the past few weeks than I have in the team.

....but I can tell you most of the anymosity was at the coaches not at big MO.......

I know I've said this a million times, but...

On Saturday, please do not boo, yell "you suck," etc...if you want to express your disgust, just leave.....I don't care if the yelling is meant to be directed at the coaches, and everyone knows it, it still beats the players down emotionally, which is the last thing they need...what is the point of going to the game if you're going to do something that makes your team play worse...

And Purify does not need to man up..after what he's been through this season and how he's handled it I think hes more of a man than most....these so called fans are the ones that need to man up...I have a feeling he's expressing what all our players feel...if fans are yelling things at them from the sidelines, they should speak out...
I was in the student section on saturday and i sure as heck didnt hear any boos. The fans were willing to support the team and were get into the game in the first half. Then.... second half... game over but i still didnt hear too many boos from the student section if there were they were intended for the coaches not players. OUR PLAYERS do need to MAN UP!! There more peed at the fans than the opposing team. If you are hearing boos then go out and hit someone and youll get the recognition. Frieaking hit someone but i dont need to hear players whining about our fans.

:yeah :yeah :yeah

As a team they do suck. They've been sucking as a team since after the first quarter of the USC game. Suck, Suck, Suck. Is it the word suck that bothers them. If so, I could break down their suck as a team into a detailed critic of individual position on each play and give them constructive criticism, but I think they would still think I wasn't supporting them since all I'm supposed to do is stand there and cheer.

I was there. >75,000 people stayed until the last A&M score to support a team that was about to go .500 after getting blown away once again after a lackluster half. 35-40,000 stayed to the end. People were frustrated but they stayed and they cheered at anything positive and nobody booed at anything other then the A&M 2 point conversion.

Maybe his head was dragging on the ground so he could only hear statements being yelled by some schmuck behind him and he missed the fans in the stands supporting the team.

Who says it was a Nebraska fan anyway.

The fans are frustrated. I realize this is not an excuse for standing behind the bench and yelling inappropriate things at the players (that should not happen...EVER!!!!). Many things have disappointed me about this season, and losing is not at the top of the list. The coaches continue to disappoint, but their arrogance and avoidance of blame is what irks me. This situation will be remedied soon. What the players need to understand is that sitting on the bench instead of cheering on your teammates, pushing opponents into the endzone, walking back to the huddle, hanging your head down, not being aggressive on EVERY play, not following your captain's lead (Bowman taking of Blackshirt), and spouting off excuses to the media (Mckeon) are not ways to gain the respect of the fans. I am a fan of Nebraska first and foremost. Being a fan for over 30 years has shown me many high roads and some real devastating ones; but at no time in all of these years have I seen what is happening now. I respect Mo, and I realize he has had a difficult times lately; but booing and namecalling (while harsh) are no more unsupportive to the team than getting a DUI and missing a game.

First off I will admit some fans go over board on some things that are said example I heard a week or so back that at a Lincoln High football game some fans not sure what age they were but some fans were yelling crap at Coz's kid who was on the field playing the game..!!!
Now that's just f'ing ridiculous. What the hell is wrong with these people?

i'm suprised "freemason" hasn't posted 85 times in this thread already...

At any case, I root for my team, but it's disheartening when you see things that the coaches and the players as well, do that cost us ball games, either it be bad plays (which happen, the water's wet, the sky's blue, etc) or horrible calls.

Coaches are supposed to adapt, improvise, overcome. But when you watch your team, and for two consecutive weeks, the defensive coach does nothing in the way of in game adjustments, it makes it tough to have any faith that your team will win, unless we outscore them, 45 - 42. And the way our anemic offense has looked past couple of weeks, to score that many points, is a stretch.

But, i'll either be watching on TV or listening via the internet, yelling, throwing the bones on 3 & out, because i'm a fan...

"Bump-Bump-Bump"

C'mon fellas!!! Let's support the N!!! Have some faith!!! Cheer loud and stand behind our team!!! Things will get better, at some point - sooner or later!!! Makes no difference - we are still fans of the Huskers!!!

REGULATORS - (HUSKER FAM).. GO BIG RED!!!! :w00t

BEAT TEXAS!!!!

:power

Go Big Red! Beat Texas!

Yet I will also not sit calmly while the Huskers devolve into the step sister of the Kansas City Royals. I'm a Royals fan and have been so the same amount of time since I've followed the Huskers as a kid (since 1977). I will not embrace the losing ways for the Huskers and will support whatever changes necessary to get them back on track. That begins with Callahan hitting the bricks.
