Wow. Syracuse is bad. Like, bad bad. What happened to the Orange? They used to be a good team.
Washington will see a very, very different level of speed and coverage Saturday than they saw against BYU and Syracuse. Half the time I was looking at the Dubya receivers wondering who was supposed to be covering them. Locker will NOT have that kind of time to throw this week.
I'll say the same thing to the Washington fans that I said to the Arizona fans for the Holiday Bowl. They chose not to believe me, so maybe you guys will have more sense. The bottom line is, Locker will have no more than three seconds to get rid of the ball. He may be able to scramble in that amount of time, but if he holds it longer he's going down, and likely pretty hard. He has to find a receiver and deliver a contested ball where only the WR can catch it or it's going to be incomplete or picked off. I didn't see any running to speak of in this game, but I know Locker is more mobile than Foles from Arizona last year, so that'll change the equation a little bit, but bottom line is, he had better bring his A++ game this week.
If he does that, Washington could win. Or if we play like we did against Texas Tech last year, Washington could win. Anything less and I don't see the Huskies pulling this out.
