Tai Webster

New Zealand Breakers boss Paul Henare says he is keen to pick up Tall Blacks young gun Tai Webster for the upcoming Australian NBL campaign but only if he is willing to be flexible.

"We'd love to have him. But, obviously signing as a point guard, it depends on what his motivations are going to be," Henare said.

"Does he want the ball in his hands, and to continue to grow as a point guard? Or is he happy playing off the ball?

"If that's an option for him, we'd be happy to keep exploring that.

"I try to stay in constant touch with Tai in terms of what he's doing."

Tai is an easy guy to root for. Awesome to see him putting up some numbers in a decent league.

I could see him being a coach one day, or maybe even going back to NZ to help push basketball. He has great character and that should push him towards special things.

Webster played with the Miami Heat in both the California Classic and the Las Vegas Summer League, giving him a couple extra opportunities to see the floor. However, Webster didn’t rally take advantage of those opportunities. In the five games of the Vegas Summer League, Webster logged 17, 0, 10, 14 and 13 minutes, scoring 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting. The next step for Webster is to head back overseas, whether that be for another year with the Skyliners or if another club will scoop him up.
