I read an article where they interviewed some guy familiar with Tulane and they were pumped when Lee signed. Said he looked phenomenal in his first start and made all the throws but as the season went on he didn't look as good because the line was bad. Having a bad line will effect completion % as well as interceptions. I'm a bears fan so I've seen it first hand for the last decade or so when you have a gun shy qb because the line is terrible. Plus TA was running sometime from pressure he was causing because he wasn't getting rid of the ball when he was supposed to. Lee moves well in the pocket, just because he doesn't scramble doest make him a statue that's what people have realize. He moves up, side steps, finds passing lanes. Unlike TA who will try to throw over linemen and result in a tip pass. Wish I could have seen more of POB other than what he did in the spring game. I think as a fan base we'll be happy with who ever wins the QB battle.

Yeah he's 6'1 and most linemeN are 6'3 + so it's not ideal to try and throw over then. But he never stepped in the lanes either. Eveyone always talks about how good he throws on the run and he isn't even actually that good at it. He always throws back across his body which is a no no and his accuracy still isn't very good. Oh well I'm ready for the next Gen of QB whoever it is

If he can put on 30 lbs between now and camp he has a chance. There's no way they put him on the field weighing 165lbs

Think Gebbia needs to to RS. He's a little too small right now and will probably need a year to learn the playbook imo.

I think Gebbia is headed for a redshirt in 2017, but some media members are saying NU's best hope is that Gebbia is Nebraska's version of Jake Browning (from Washington). I think the 2018 QB battle could be interesting. I didn't realize that Browning started as a true frosh, but Gebbia could be an interesting prospect as a RS frosh in '18.

Gebbia is good, and I think he will end up being the best of Lee, POB, and himself, but he won't be able to start in '17.

Certainly a factor that contributed to our lack of sacks was Tommy's mobility. To say that that was THE reason we were as good as we were, or to try and specifically document exactly how much of it was his legs vs other factors, is pretty silly.

Yeah, there's just no way to quantify the contribution of Tommy's mobility. Still: 8 sacks in 11 games with. 3 sacks in 1 game without.

Regardless, let's say the Maryland game was an accurate barometer of our line's real ability. That's still miles ahead of what Tanner was dealing with at Tulane. His line was like 2005 Nebraska, Zac Taylor getting smoked on every. single. pass. play. levels of bad.

I can't wait to see what Langs will do with a QB like Tanner Lee or POB. As for O-lines, I'll take your word that Tulane had crappy pass protection. I don't think I ever saw them play when Tanner was there. I think our O-line will be better next year. We were so young this year. Plus we have guys coming off redshirt that will help. Gates, Foster and Farmer are all back with time to get healthy again.

I understand from a source close to the situation that during this long redshirt period, the S&C people have had Tanner in the all new, one-of-a-kind 'speed' room. This is an unique new training/development process through the application of the "NUbionics" technology. With special 'speed' gear, they can now improve a player's speed metrics about 20% typically. For example, a QB like Lee came in to Nebraska running about 4.9 - 40 yard dash. But with our new leggings, he now boasts a personal best of 4.47 on a series of 10 reps in 10 minutes, demonstrating he has not only dramatically increased his speed and quickness but also his endurance. Sadly, thus far Tanner has suffered from major immunity rejection and blood clots tendency in the back of his knees and deep thigh bruises. Pain killing medications are being administered and so far no allergic or other negative responses. The technitions are now testing to determine Lee's ability to function at a high enough level mentally while under the continuous influence of medications to stave off the immune system issues and alleviate the pain. His tolerance is reported to be improving weekly. It is not yet clear if Tanner will be able to utilize both the speed leggings and the 'gunslinger' arm builders. If not, Riley and the staff will be faced with a real Hobson's choice come spring practice (runner or passer?). Time will tell.

When I say I was unimpressed, it was just that his stats don't match up to the hype. I think anyone that can look in more than one direction for an open receiver is better than TA. The problem I have always believed regarding QB's like TA and TM are that they are running QB's first trying to throw the ball. That is an major weakness. They want to prove they can throw the ball no matter what is happening during the play. Thus, TA throwing 30 yards bombs to double and triple covered receivers instead of running for 15-20 yards when the opportunity presented itself.

I would rather have a passing QB that has wheels. He will not try to impress anyone with his feet, but has the ability to do so when needed.

We will see what he brings to the table. Will be nice if he doesn't bail out so quickly on pass plays. As a few have mentioned, TA did that a lot. I noticed he did that even when pressure wasn't coming from the middle and all he had to do what step up and release. And what bugged me about that the most was how it affected the specific routes by the WR's within the play. It turned into an improvisation by all, meaning backyard ball. Those plays contribute to overall comp % being down, and less likely to convert 3rd downs and moving chains. Need a steady QB that can make smart decisions, good reads, and get rid of it on time and accurately. Been hearing that from OCDL for two years.

Not impressed by Lee's stats. Maybe some of it was result of playing early in career and at Tulane

if Tanner Lee can run a 4.47 that is incredible. He is faster than Ameer Abdullah in a 40 yard dash

I saw him a bunch of times in HS and twice at Tulane and was never impressed. He had nice size but not much else. At the time I never would've dreamed he'd end up at Nebraska -- just didn't think he was at that level. But, everyone tells me I'm just being a Debbie Downer and I read the article above that talks about all his supposed intangibles so I guess we'll see. If you're expecting something special though, you're in for a disappointment.

He just needs to be consistent in the passing game and not throw timely/costly INT's. He has not played a down here yet so I am going to wait and let his play do the talking next year. The two teams in the B1G championship have a first year starter at QB. so it would not surprise me if Tanner did well. Again not gonna form an opinion on him until I see him play in a game, those media guys don't see everything, but they have said he makes throws. It's a wait and see approach and I think he will win the job, unless POB takes a major leap next year.
