International Man of Mystery
Martinez honored with national player of the week award
Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez, coming off a career day against Oklahoma State, was named the Walter Camp Foundation national offensive player of the week.

The redshirt freshman had 435 yards in total offense in NU’s 51-41 win against the No. 17 Cowboys. He completed 23 of 35 passes for career highs of 323 yards and five touchdowns.

He set NU freshman records for completions, yards and TD passes.

Martinez added 112 yards rushing to become the first quarterback in NU history to throw for at least 300 yards and rush for at least 100 in the same game.

His 435 yards of total offense rank third on Nebraska’s all-time single-game chart.
