Slight diference between the two. I was at both games and both were essentially the first string offense against primarily the third, but when dailey was at qb, there was a definate drop off in accuracy and arm strength. Its easy to put up numbers when guys are wide open and there is no rush, which both of them did, but Taylor made some big league throws, especially on the deep out and seam route, that Dailey never would have made. Telling statistic... Dailey 27 of 47, Taylor 20 of 27

Yes, Zac Taylor will struggle the first few games, but what team doesn't struggle the first few games? Texas A&M was blown out by Utah the first game of the year last year but look how McNeil recovered as the season went on. Yeah i know.. i know, he got abused by Tennessee in the cotton bowl, but it's Tennesse, not Wyoming or some other low level DIV-A team they played.

I don't think Taylor had the arm strength of Dailey, but seemed comfortable in his role and had a nice accurate touch. At the spring game the thing that stood out to me, even though against the #3 D, was that he wouldn't always force it to his #1 or #2 target. Taylor looked more impressive throwing the 7 balls he didn't complete than Dailey did on his 27 completions, IMHO. Of course, it could have been the rose-colored glasses I was wearing, too! ;)

Oh Geez...ok, I'll follow. The thing with Taylor is yeah, he'll probably have some gitters to work out, and may not be crisp out of the gate. But he has SO much more potential. Dailey DID have a year under his belt, even if it wasn't in the same offense. What stuck out in my mind (I attended both spring games) is that after you throw out coverages (virtually nil both years) and Taylor's throws were beautiful. You just got the feeling that our receivers will at least have a chance to catch balls with Taylor most every time, not watching them bounce in front of them, or soaring 10 feet over their head into the hands of the opposing team.

So to answer your question, Taylor will NOT be anything like Dailey. And even if I'm wrong, some guy named Beck would love to jump in.

I realize Taylor played against our own defensive backups but he seems to be more of a pure passer than JD was. Taylor is accurate, has arm strength and seems to have a great grasp of the offense considering the short time he has been here. Taylor also put up great numbers durning the red-white game but he would have done even better if he played more than half a game. That was in April with a very limited offense and defense. By the time we play Maine, Zac will have another five months under his belt. JD on the other hand could be a very good QB. Just not in an offense that passes as much as the WCO does. JD will thrive in an offense that allows him to run more and pass less.

Taylor will be fine. We have five home games to start the season. It is taylor made for a new QB. And we have much more WCO type offensive players on the team then we did last season. It Zac stumbles then Beck will step in. And I for one think Beck will be so good he will win the job outright by the end of the season.

There is a world of difference between last season's offense and this years version. A good QB makes all the difference.

Not a chance. I think Taylor has already been through a great deal more than Dailey and he is mentally tougher than Joe as well as being a better passer. Zac has already been through transferring from his first choice of colleges. He is a couple years older and wiser. BTW, anyone catch the article comparing Taylor and Dailey in The Sporting News. Holy crap, they ripped Dailey pretty bad.

no comparison, Taylor is light-years ahead of where Dailey was at this time last year AND Taylor is coming off a very successful JUCO season. he will be nervous to start, but i think he will settle in pretty quickly and do just fine.........

man, I wish I would have went to the spring game now...

I only saw some clips of it and it was a deep ball to Nunn, very good throw and catch.

Joe D had the desire to play Taylor has the brains to play. I dont think that college QB's need to have an arm like Favre to play the game i.e oklahoma

the last 3 yrs - imo - i will take less arm strength this year with better decision making

:cheers
