Wait a second...HOLD ON.. back up Formerfan. You just became a hypocrite in your post. Let me point out the numerous running around you did in your post.
I feel that it is within my rights as a Husker fan to expect championships
This is not an attack. This is something you need to explain before you can claim you are a husker fan when you clearly made this statement in another thread in response to Husker fans being the classiest fan in America. When i told you to take your own advice, you replied with
Former Fan said: I never have put that moniker on myself, personally, its a condescending statement
How can you say you are a Husker fan when Husker fans are KNOWN as one of the most respectful and classy fans in America towards either teams? You said it was a condescending statement. Wouldn't that make you condescending since you said you are a Husker fan? If you are not condescending, are you saying every other Husker fan BUT YOU is condescending? <_<
Good question, one that apparently needs clarification. I said it is condescending to claim to be the “classiest fans in America,” and hypocritical to then throw insults and make threats to a person (see the examples given) based solely on their views of a college football team or coaching staff. It’s a very Colorado-esque way to cheer your team. BTW, I dont think that you will find an instance where I have referred to myself or those who root for the same team I do as the “classiest fans in college football,” so as much as you’d like to, I don’t think that you can call that hypocritical. Like I paraphrased in an earlier post, the overwhelming majority of NU fans are good, decent, upstanding people, and a few Buffalo-like knuckleheads shouldn’t taint the whole group. But for a group of fans to refer to THEMSELVES as such, is self-serving, egotistical, and condescending.
Lets move on to another point
After we were promised championships by the AD
am legit with my denouncement of the staff, after we were promised championships by the AD, I feel that it is within my rights as a Husker fan to expect championships.
And you expected those championships to come in 1 year of installing a new offense? That's like asking a Casino owner who just built a new Casino to promise 100 million dollars in profit the first year without even seeing what the traffic in the casino is before the casino even opens up its doors. Again, look at what you typed. When did the new coaches promise a National title after the first year? When did the AD promise a National title after 1 year. If you know ANY AD that knows when his team is going to win a national title, please let me know ASAP so i can place a bet in Vegas before the season starts claiming X, Y, Z team is guaranteed to win a national title that year because the AD promised they would win one.
Moving on and this is where your hypocrisy shows
FSs new staff needed to have at least one more year (probably 2) to see what they could do
So Solich should be given the right to see what his new staff could have done because what? Because he hired a new staff? I really find it hard to believe you were demanding National titles every year Solich was coaching and when he fell short, you said "that's ok, maybe next year". Going on your reasoning, I then as a HUSKER FAN demanded we win National championships during the Solich years and he failed to deliver. He was given a team that won a national title the year before and had gone 60-3 in it's previous 3 years, and in 1 year, Solich managed to get 4 losses. Why should solich be given 2 more years with his new staff when he didn't win a national title in 6 years with his old staff? Why is Solich allowed 8 years to TRY to win a national championship and Callahan isn't even given 1 or even 2 years to TRY to win one? Because Solich is a Husker? Is that why he should be given the chance?
Lets answer both of these together. Yes, once FS brought in a whole new staff you have to give them at the minimum of 2 years, but more like 3 or 4 to see what they can do. Especially after we saw a very nice improvement from 02 to 03. Did I honestly think that billy c. was going to win a NC in his first year, hell no. But after making the improvement that this team did, and we (as fans) were told that the improvement wasn’t good enough, that we were not going to surrender to OU and UT, that we were here to win championships, then that’s what I expect. NU went from 7-7 to 10-3, so logically they should have went 13-0 last year, at least that is what pud said. These expectations are not what I would have expected, they are what pud told me that the expectations are. Are they unrealistic, absolutely, but I am just expecting what our Grand Wizard Pud-meister promised. :sarcasm
As far as why should Frank have recieved more time, yes because he brought in a new staff, partly because he is a member of the family, and the other part it because pud had no plan, and hired a worse coach than the one we had.
A question I need to ask, if the turnaround that the 03 staff had was not good enough, then why should we expect less from the current staff?? Is billy c and co held to lower standards than TO and FS, and if so, why?
Moving on....
you win as a team, and lose as a team. In the end, it falls on the shoulders of the leaders (coaches.)
You win as a team, you lose a a team, but it's the coaches fault primarily if they lose. That doesn't even make sense. :dumdum
I wasn't aware Jay Norvell was Zach Taylor in disguise and threw 2 interceptions. I wasn't are John Blake was LeKevin Smith in disguise and was the one who fumbled the ball away. I wasn't aware Bill Busch was on the field missing tackles. I wasn't aware Dennis Wagner was in disguise on the offensive line and allowing Zac to be sacked. Exactly how does it fall on the coaches shoulders? Are coaches fumbling balls, throwing interceptions, missing tackles, allowing sacks? How does it fall on the coaches shoulders, when those same coaches are the ones who brought us back from a 21-0 deficit.
As it is with any organization, the success or failure falls directly on the shoulders of those who run it (see Frank Solich). They are supposed to get the right people to do the job, formulate a plan as to how to get the job done, and put in place the execution of the plan. Everyone plays a part, very important part in the performance, but in the end, the responsibility of the organizations success (football team) falls on the leaders.
###### said:3. Our CURRENT tight ends are the biggest example option players struggling to adapt to the WCO. There's NOTHING Callahan and the offensive staff can do about it at the moment, except buy some time and recruit guys who are fitted into that system.
Formerfan said:
3. Disagree. They can do 3 things, COACH, recruit, or find plays that these players can run effectively.
In case someone hasn't told you yet, Nebraska brought in the third rated recruiting class in the nation last year. Also i will take Milt's comments on Big Red Report when he says that coaching players to Pass block is the most difficult thing for an offensive coach to do with more credibility considering he was a coach from your old "SOLICH" regime you love to continue to bring up. He attended 3 practices and he said they are trying to coach them but some players are having problems adjusting (ie C.Thomas, Seppo, Kurt Mann). And as far as running plays that these players can run effectively, why don't we just hand opposing coaches our gameplan? Any DC will know what play we will most likely run if we bring in those certain lineman on those "plays"
As for the last paragraph, we will agree to disagree. One question, where did NU have the 3rd rated class last year, through Rivals, I thought they were ranked 5th? Just curious.
