Texas Leaning Towards Big 12 Deal

Maybe ABC/ESPN came riding in on their white horse and threw money at Texas and Co. to remain in the conference, but this is not a long-term solution. They will have to add two teams to get that CCG payday, and they've already got Missouri with one foot out the door. The Big 10 is likely not done, so in a few months when expansion rears its ugly head once again, this conference fractures.

Colorado and Nebraska were brilliant to get out while the gettin's good. Nebraska more so by weight of where they landed, but CU wasn't too fool to read the tea leaves and see what was coming.

Money rules this sport now. The genie isn't going back in the bottle. The dregs of this conference don't carry enough weight to make a viable conference on their own.
Dallas Morning News reporting it was Fox.

They are still in negotiations, it is not a done deal. Plus its a 10 team split, not a 12 team. (16% rise without any additional money)

you gotta think they will add 2 more teams by the time its all said and done, im thinkings its gonna be 2 out of...BYU, SMU, TCU, Houston, Arkansas, UTEP

Maybe. I've also read it was a tag-team of ABC/ESPN and FOX. I doubt FOX has the cash to do this on their own. They for sure don't have the network capability - they're spread across the country into a bunch of regional pieces. They would need to make something national - something that would compete with ESPN, which isn't a bad thing - to make that viable.

If FOX figures out a way to make a national network to rival ESPN, that could be the best thing to happen out of all of this. But of course this is just conjecture on my part.

Texas, OU, A&M got in a huddle and made this deal ..

"If you bend over and take it from us to concede to every single thing we want, we will stay."

Kansas, KSU, ISU, Baylor, etc., all huddled for 2.5 seconds, and replied ..

"Where do we sign?"

Personally, I would be ashamed to be a fan of some of those schools seeing as they today showed how spineless each and every one of them are.

Kudos to the first 3 schools though for somehow convincing these other schools to buy into this.

I am sure they know they are being bent over, but they figure they are making more money with being bent over in the Big 12, then they could make any where else. I hope one day Texas gets what is coming to them and their arrogant ways.

Very, very true.

However, I'm not for sure if the look of a crack hooker just looking for some cash in any way is a look that any of them really want. Good luck in trying to sell a decent coach to come to those schools from now on knowing their administration will just cave to whatever a few teams want, as this made INSANELY clear.

Even more, good luck in this conference trying to have competitive football at this point. You've got two schools, and twenty tiers below you have everyone else, and this will only widen the gap.

Well, now you're about to make 22mil, 3mil shy of what Texas might make, and your academics rating just went up. Hate Texas all you want but the rest of the big12 is jealous, I'm betting.
Absolutely, everyone else is jealous. You can't tell me that if the Big 10 called on Kansas, Missouri, K-State or Iowa State that they wouldn't have ditched the Big 1UT2 for the Big 10 in a heartbeat. This will eventually come to a head, but it will most likely be a few years down the road when everyone has finally had enough of Texas' supreme arrogance.
