If I'm not mistaken at least two of those weapons (M60 and the Thompson) require some pretty lengthy approval processes including finger prints, federal background checks, and taxes.

For woke people like you and me, sure. But apparently not for the people who vote them into office to execute the laws of the land. 

Point being, would the same people who see guns as the defining symbol of American freedom --- the people who DON'T cringe -- look at the same picture differently when it's a well-armed inner-city Black family.
