The Best College Football Fans in America?

After watching the Huskers for nearly 40 years, I'll repeat what I've been saying for 40 years: It's easy to be a great fan when your team is always winning. Try having a string of 13 consecutive losing seasons like Missouri did through the 80's and 90's and then let me see how "great" the Nebraska fans are and how long that consecutive sell-out streak lasts.

This last debacle has merely exposed Husker fans for the fraud that they are.

Well, that wasn't antagonistic at all...

I dont know why I even have any thoughts on this subject at all. as far as I'm concern sports fans in general have become the biggest pains in the a$$ . Anytime I want to have a conversation about this team some :asshat husker hater has to jump into my face and start berating me, the team, Osborne, and anything having to do with this team.. you name it. Most of the time I can't even get a word in on these prick. I'm sick of even talking sports with people because of it. It's just a damned game after all.

To many NO CLASS jerks have just come out of the wood work the last couple years. What do they think? They gonna get even with NU for 40 years of dominance by disrespecting me? Apparently that's it.

Yeah I know it's Husker football...it's everything. I know. I love college football, especially NU. But let's have Class in general. The world isn't going to end tomorrow, even if we don't beat Texas. A few years down the road NU and Notre Dame will be in the BCS while LSU and USC will be rebuilding. It's all cyclical. Let's just relax and take it in context. And quit using sports as an excuse to attack each other for God's sake.

BTW-13 years of losing seasons has made attending Mizzou as a fan of a visiting team a horrible experience. Probably second only to going to CU. NU Fans are no where near as low rent as what I've seen in those two places.

What, exactly, do these players expect? Do they expect "the greatest fans in America" to eat this poo pie and continue to smile and clap and cheer? How completely unrealistic is that?

Sure, I'm as angered as most by the idiots who tell the players to take the N off their helmets, or who say "you suck" to a guy who's just gotten beat up in a game for 60 minutes. That kind of "fan" needs to go away, no question. But at the same time, there is a legitimate amount of frustration being displayed by fans, and I don't have any qualms about anyone who boos the lack of effort and heart that we see displayed on a weekly basis lately.

We are knowledgeable fans, and we know excellence. We have a reasonable right to expect that any kid who puts that helmet on will play to the fullest extent of their ability. When we see loafing, lolly-gagging, and outright indifference out there, I think it's only natural to react negatively.

I am completely against the notion that being one of the "best fans in college football" means I never, ever get to criticize this team.
So you're defending this fans?

I'm sorry. You can justify that to yourself however you want. But what do the players expect?! Clearly, you're not in their shoes. What do you think they should say? "Oh well, that's to be expected. It doesn't sting at all that we're getting booed by our own fans because we've been losing"?! You think this SHOULDN'T be hard on the team? <_<
And you're saying it's not OK to boo? Sorry. I don't buy that one bit.
Tell me one thing booing accomplishes. I don't buy the "class" argument so much as the counterproductive results.

And don't tell me the players need to be reminded how poorly they're playing, they know better than anyone and they hear about it all week. Which is perfectly fine. The point is they don't need to hear it in the middle of a home game.

The only thing youre accomplishing by booing during our games is to make them feel even more dejected to the point where they don't even want to play home games any more.

Great job fans. And the fact that you'll turn this around and blame them for not being "man enough" to take it makes it even more pathetic.
