The A&M game did matter at the time, why? They were rollin' on an undefeated streak, a hot team, a win puts you in a shot of getting back to the top, and what happens....we cry foul and loss our cool! IMO this is "The Effect", "The Hump". Playing through emotions i.e...Texas game. Look at what Alabama did, "NO ONE" thought that was going to happen. Saban and Co. came prepared to show the Nation...yeah we had "The Effect", "The Hump" but THIS IS OUR NATION TITLE GAME and showed everyone "ROLL TIDE" and rolled MSU like they were 6-6! People need to leave BO alone, THIS IS FOOTBALL FOLKS!! Saban had no problem slappin that kid in the rear and didn't apologize for it either! "The Effect" Mental preparation + Execution + Being physical + Having a Leader on the field = MNC!! In hard times....you fight to win!! GBR!!Read your thoughts ... and I agree with you that Mizzou game was a good win ... never would discount that. Again, my post was about the build up that results after sealing that win and setting up us representing the North in the conference championship.i don't see why either the a&m game or the holiday bowl "matter" more than the mizzou game (or okie state). obviously they all matter to some extent, and some matter than others (particularly texas and the championship game), but i still think it's dumb to say we lost every game that matters. the mizzou game was the most important game of the regular season, though i understand putting it second to texas given the emotions involved.
In the end, I think we see the same thing ... from some different perspectives as fans. Enjoyed the interaction.
