The Chronicles of Redshirting (4 Games)

This is an example of confusing the two terms.

Medical hardship - being granted an extra year of eligibility due to a major injury, after that player has already used his redshirt season.  Typically applied for and granted when the player is about to run out of eligibility.

Medical redshirt - being able to use a redshirt season after suffering a major injury after having played in that season, but less than 25% of the games.  This would be used if the player hasn't redshirted yet.  Again, the now 4-game redshirt rule would supercede this rule.

thank you.

thank you.
There is also the "New Coach is Changing the Offense Hardship" which Tanner Lee got when he was granted a 6th year of eligibility at Nebraska.  That is a Hardship rule which I had never heard of until Lee was granted that year.  Of course, he and Riley were applying for immediately eligibility after his transfer from Tulane, so that Lee could be the starting QB in 2016, and not Armstrong.

Nebraska newcomers: who redshirted, who didn't

DL - Tate Wilderman, Casey Rogers, Deonte Thomas

LB - Will Honas, David Alston, Breon Dixon

So for this fella here who doesn't follow recruiting much, what kind of impact do we expect these Freshmen to have? Immediate playing time? Big impact and better play?

Miles Jones for sure. Hopefully Hunt can step up next year as well offensively. I'm interested to see what Wildeman and Roberts can do at DE as they should be pass rush threats. Honas should start at LB though he will be a RSJr.

Hopefully McGriff can channel his inner Caveman and play like another #46 we used to have on the team
