the deer itch

Coe on up to SD H37. We can sit on my deck, drink some cold beer and you can kill the deer that has been snacking on my trees. T_O_B

I was just looking for a place for the Hybrid and me to stay near SD (the one on the beach) for the Holidays..

Just saw a picture from my cousin (#29 from the early 80's) where he got a nice sized buck on his property with a Bow..Near Overton.

I think I'm going to pass on shooting one this year. I sat from dawn until dusk on Saturday and until noon on Sunday. I saw a grand total of 19 deer and the bucks weren't even borderline shooters. Between 3 of us we used to see 150+ deer on opening weekend . . . but that hemorrhagic fever hit hard a couple years back. They just haven't recovered.

That's precisely why I'm passing this year too.

The itch returns...I've got a half a beef and a hog in the freezers so actually taking a deer this season isn't really necessary but I'm still looking forward to sitting in a tree and just enjoy my time in the woods. No stress no pressure just unwind.

Good luck. I haven't gone for a number of years. Talking to guys around here, the numbers seem to be way down. Possibly the same disease issues that have been affecting eastern Nebraska.
I’m down in Melvern, KS. West side of the state seems to suffer a lot more with CWD.

How did you do?? Pretty slow up here on the north east coast of the state the last few years, did take a doe and a decent buck this season with my bow, found quite a few dead along a creek both past years.

They have been down for several years but we saw more this year than we have the past 3 combined. South Central part of the state. Between 3 of us we saw 64 deer opening weekend. Kids all got deer and I got an elk in Wyoming so freezer is full for the winter.

I’m glad. I’m probably a little north of you. I’m in the Buffalo MDCA. A number of years ago, they dropped the number of tags down to about 1,000. It wasn’t worth trying to get one. Where I hint, we never see whitetail so, not worth getting one of those.
