The Future of Husker Football

You are really making this way too easy Former Fan.

2002

ISU L 14-36

Okie State L 21-24

I think that was the first time those two teams beat us in how many years???

Lets go back a year prior shall we??

2001

Col L 36-62 (that one was a beauty! we really ran the option well there didn't we? And how about or Blackshirts then??!!)

Oh and I really love your excuses for this one!

The season isnt over, yet. As far as what is wrong at OU, injuries, inexperience, loss of some great assistant coaches, to name a few.
Hmm seems to me we lost a monster of a LB in Octavian. Not too mention a WR we were trying to get early playing time at the beginning of the season. You are making excuses for OU yet we have most of those same things happen here! Yawn....your getting tiring really

Racking up all those nice rushing yards yet to lose to teams that we were supposed to beat?
Name them??

You say ole Stoops takes a team that PLAYED for the title game LAST YEAR yet turns around the program to a BIG OLE 2-3!  I would love to hear your excuse for why Stoopfied is losing this year?  He is not a replacement coach but the HC as you explained and I quote
Stoops won 1 NC, and played in 2 other NC games, after taking over a team that was I think 4-7 the year before he was hired.
Yep things are looking bright for him aren't they?? Looks like Stoopfied is back to the 4-7 record after all!

Ahh i see. It's easy for your to justify Stoops team with injuries and inexperience, but it's alright to bash the Huskers. Let's see, Octavien is out, Frantz will be out next week (twisted ankle), Matt Herian is out as well because of an injury and Ross has a hip problem that seems to be bothering him. Let's not forget about Chris Brooks as well. Oh by the way, Zac Taylor, Nate Swift, Mulkey, Glenn, Marlon are all inexperinced players.

And by the way, Mike Stoops has been at Arizona for 2 years now and OU was glad to get rid of Pelini. So exactly which assistants did OU lose. Assistants means more then 1 person.

Frank in 98 took a National champion team and made them a 9-4 team.

99 we should have won the title but Frank couldn't coach the team on how

to hold onto the ball.63 fumbles.Lost 49.2000 ranked #1 to start the season.

2 loses ranked #9 at the end.Lost to ok and kst.Big 12 title.2001 63 points

and 37 points on d the last 2 games.Bohl gone!2002 7-7.Lost our won 9 games win

in a season streak.Thanks Frank.2003 lost 3 games. 3 blowouts.

Tom 3 titles.Frank 1 Big 12 title.Thanks Frank.Tom was the legend not Frank.

It's quite obvious that some people like living in the past. This is Nebraska Football in 2005; not 2003 or even 1995.

And who gives a sh#t about what Stoops did at OU? I could care less what he did...what's he doing now compared to our team?

Another thing; I'll guarantee the Huskers take OU behind the woodshed once that game rolls around.

If people are too blind to see that this team gels more and more after every game and the offense has improved, you might want to consider moving 447 miles to the west-southwest.

There were glimpses of the bond this team has as the cameras from TBS panned around the sidelines. Beck with his hand on Taylor's shoulder during a TO, the jubilation on the sidelines by the WHOLE TEAM as they made their unhearalded comeback and Coach Callahan's expression after the interception fumble with seconds remaining.

These are our HUSKERS, win or lose.

Im sorry to hijack the thread that you already hijacked formerfan but I liked what I saw today from the Huskers. The future looks very good for this team and COACHES.

Thats all I have to say about that!

Carry on with your coach bashing formerfan

Octavian played about 6 plays, who knows how good he would be, besides, he and Ruud were neck and neck. Herian hurts, I guess-he hardly every caught a pass after the 3rd game last year. Ross is still playing, just got injured, same with Hardy. Taylor is "very experienced" in this offense, according to the coaches, and Swift and Mulkey have been there for more than 1 year.

As for the assistants, both losses hurt. Stoops left before the bowl game last year, so this is his first as head coach, if I remember correctly. But yes, both losses hurt, wasnt that one of the reasons why NU's D was so bad last year, 3 DCs in 3 years?

Again your posts are Redundant and boring...... You keep posting the same thing every game. Yet I know deep down inside it burns you that this program IS turning around. :clap dedhoarse

I couldnt agree more. It went from a team that was a top 2 team almost every year, one that won 300 games in 30 years, to a 5-6 team.

I dont like that turnaround.

FF hates everything about the football program.Thats why he loves OK and

Stoops and just bashes everything about are football team.FF you must love

this lost. You are celebrating with Bernard.Maybe Frank can come back with

those no National titles while Tom is the one with the Three rings.

Who knows how good he would be? Excuse me but did smeone hijack your account and just put in that Octavien looked like a stud for the few plays he was in on, because now all of a sudden, you are saying "who knows?" :rollin

Herian might not have been used as much after the third game, but he still lead the team in yards after the Missouri game, so that should tell you how valuable he was. Or does 2 catches for 60 yards not count as much as 8 catches for 60 yards?

You must have misread quotes. I believe Callahan has said that Zac Taylor has picked up the offense and is more comfortable in it then Joe was last year. That doesn't translate into experience, unless your name is Formerfan :WTH

Swift and Mulkey might have been here for 1 year, but how many catches did they have combined last year? If being here for a year or 2 with barely any playing time is experience then Hodges should have lit us up for 60 points since he is a 5th year senior :rollin

You must have missed it again. Oklahoma was GLAD to get rid of PELINI. I can gurantee you that. Go to the Sooner boards and they will tell you "good riddance" if you mention his name. If the fans hated him, you think the players didn't?

Like i said, Mike Stoops went to Arizona back in 2003 and last year OU did fine up untill the National championship game without him, so i hardly doubt he was missed.

Keep trying

We went from running the ball 70 times a game to having a balance offense.

Our last real passing QB was Vince F. in the 70's.Option team to a pro-style

team. You really think 100 years of running every play was going to change

in one year.Let's see P.Manning run the option and have them running on all

cylinders in one year.

It went to a 7-7 team before it went to a 5-6 team. Keep that in mind..oh wait, that's asking to much because you will consider a 7-7 season and not in the top25 as a successful season, even though that win that got us into the bowl game was over a DIV-AA team :smokin

I agree the team played well today. If they can protect the football and watch the penalties they will have a great rest of the season.

P.S. Formerfan's name pretty much tells all about how he feels about the Huskers.

Well, the way I see it, this coaching staff has shown itself to be very good. Our offense struggled early in the season, then everyone thought we should run the ball exclusively agasint Iowa St. They saw something, and decided to pass against them, and it worked. Then they were criticized for not executing in the Red Zone, this game we got it done. Seems like as soon as we start criticizing something, the next game they come out and prove us wrong. I for one see a bright future in this staff.

Kept the streak alive, which I feel is very important. :thumbs It certainly wasnt a great season, however.
