The "N" on the 50 yard line

I havent' been to a game yet this season, but I've noticed that the color of our field looks worse on certain chanels, ie BTN. Our red looks much more 'purple-y' on BTN than it does on ESPN. It has somthing to do with the camera's/lighting/natural light, it never looks the way it does in person.

THAT.

I remember always thinking that the MN Viking field at the Metrodome was really pale and quite ugly. Then I saw a game in person and realized it was the camera and TV.

I was thinking it could be the stadium lighting, I've been watching other night games and they don't look nearly as bland as ours does. I'm sorry to say, but on TV the lighting has the feel of a high school football game. :dunno

Why do both the #huskers face the West Stadium? The fans in the East Stadium don't ever get the lovin'... during halftime, the band always plays to the West Stadium. Now I have to to read #huskers upside down? 7734 with that!

On top of the paint being so faded, I also noticed watching the dvr after i got home last night that there were a lot of players with turf itself on their shirts. I know it is getting replaced, I just hope it lasts through the year. It's starting to come apart.
Those were tire chunks. It's not unusual to see it, but a lot of it found its way on shirts last night. I wondered at the time if the field was wet.
Tire chunks are green? These pieces were green, it looked like the "grass" coming apart and sticking to the shirts. I know about the rubber, it's done that since new.

As far as wet goes, we havent had rain in 3 years. Do they actually put some water down like they used to do with astroturf, where it actually plays better a little damp?

They used to dump tons of sand into it - don't remember if they still do that, but always thought that was interesting.

Sand and rubber pellets are the base of the turf. When that gets depleted over playing time, they add sand to keep the field properly bulked-up.

Take back what I said about the stadium having bad lighting. I watched the replay on BTN last night and the stadium lighting was fine, it's obviously something about ABC's broadcast that makes it look dark.

Maybe so, but the issue with the N is not tv or lighting. It really is faded. I wish they would do something about it for Michigan. It cant be that much to put a coat on can it?

Yeah definitely agree with you there, it looks almost purple. They should paint it the brightest red they can find just so it stands out better.

I was watching a little bit of last year's Ohio State - Nebraska game earlier. It wasn't all that red then, but it's gotten noticeably worse.
