The "N" on the 50 yard line

Looked it up.... since the original astroturf went down in 1970, it was changed in '77, '84, '92, '99, and '05. True to form, it looks like the end of this season is right on with the cycle. I guess it makes sense to do it concurrently with the latest expansion too.

 
Fyi.. this thread was made in the FIRST half of the game. Things got turned around in the second half.

Cool to hear that we are replacing the turf, but whats the issue with giving that N a fresh coat of paint every once in a while.

 
On top of the paint being so faded, I also noticed watching the dvr after i got home last night that there were a lot of players with turf itself on their shirts. I know it is getting replaced, I just hope it lasts through the year. It's starting to come apart.

 
Do we have to use paint? Aren't a lot teams just incorporating the basic designs into the actual turf?

Compare Ohio State's red to ours. Theirs looks pretty. Ours looks weird and purple-y.

I also agree to ditch the alternating greens that we took from Autzen.

 
I havent' been to a game yet this season, but I've noticed that the color of our field looks worse on certain chanels, ie BTN. Our red looks much more 'purple-y' on BTN than it does on ESPN. It has somthing to do with the camera's/lighting/natural light, it never looks the way it does in person.

Regardless, it needs replaced, and it should probably be painted every season too, to keep it fresh.
