Lots of people taking this out of context. Wasn’t even about NIL, which he supports. We'll see if the attitude has changed in two years...

He never opposed NIL, he opposed “professionalizing” college football. He doesn’t want bidding wars between schools for recruits, he doesn’t want to have a salary cap, he wants there to be student athletes instead of athletes that don’t have to attend class, and are just there to be athletes.Eh, nice try. Now they're getting paid AND getting NIL money. You can try to spin it differently but it's not going to work.
And of course he supports NIL now. Anyone would be stupid not to.
If that's his opinion, then I agree with him.He never opposed NIL, he opposed “professionalizing” college football. He doesn’t want bidding wars between schools for recruits, he doesn’t want to have a salary cap, he wants there to be student athletes instead of athletes that don’t have to attend class, and are just there to be athletes.
This quote was from 2014, when NIL was barely even heard of...he’s never opposed NIL. Don’t try to make it something it’s not. You’re smarter than that, Mav.
Crazy. I'd transfer if I can't endorse a pack of Newports :smokin chuckleshuffle
Not to dunk on college athletes (because, honestly, this was a long time coming... and they've been taken advantage of for quite awhile) but the last couple of days have felt like just a massive influx of tens of thousands of marginally crappy social media influencers.I bunch of Michigan players joined YOKE. They get paid to play video games with the general public....or rather the general public pays to play video games with the players.
COMPLETELY agree!!!Say what you will about years of under the table dealings and the contradictory nature of college athletics, but there were plenty of people who did play by the rules and do things the right way. You can't always retroactively fix the past based on modern day standards, rules and applications of said rules.
And, quite honestly, if an athletes has 2,000 followers on twitter before NIL, if all they do now is this, then that number is going to go way down. Not to dunk on college athletes (because, honestly, this was a long time coming... and they've been taken advantage of for quite awhile) but the last couple of days have felt like just a massive influx of tens of thousands of marginally crappy social media influencers.
