***The Nebraska Defense - Blackshirts 2023***

Mich. is averaging 4.97 yd/rush. It will be interesting to see how the D holds up against their OL which is by far the best we will have seen this year.
It also changes the equation if we fall behind by multiple scores against a team that wants to lean on the run. Colorado got up big and wanted to continue to throw, so this is the first example.

Now, I'm generally pessimistic, but the rushing defense has been ridiculously impressive. I don't care it's not been against a top rushing team, you don't have the best start to your rushing defense since 1999 after 4 games without that unit being legitimately very good. There's a reason we didn't do it any other time the past 24 years.

I think this really helps for recruiting.  Show guys they can get on the field even if they aren't the starter and it doesn't have to be on special teams.
Which shows the philosophical difference between former regimes and Rhules incredulousness (disdain?) for game time depth charts.  If there weren't Blackshirts we could conceivably say we have 20 starters on D, and no one really can tell the difference when someone is on or off.
