The new Big 12-2 deal looks worse and worse . . .

Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M are each guaranteed at least $60 million dollars per year in the new Big 12. That figure doesn't change even if the league does not earn as much as Beebe claimed. An independent firm looked at what the Big 12 could actually earn next year and they came up with the number $135 million as a best case scenario. (Beebe said that it would be roughly double that...) If you figure that out . . . the other 7 schools are going to be looking at about $10 million per year . . . which is almost exactly what they earned before selling their souls to Texas and guaranteeing that Texas earn TWICE AS MUCH AS THEY DO. I give the Big 12 less than 5 years before it's done for good.

I still cant wrap my head around that the other schools let beebe and Texas get away with this. Anybody with common sense would have given atleast some thought before doing this. Instead they hit the, "Oh crap button." signed without even reading it. I give other schools in conference till about 2014 before they realize that they screwed up. Then conference will eventually break apart and I hope no one at that point wants apart of Texas and their spoiled child ways.

the problem is that the other schools had now choice. being held hostage in a dysfunctional big 12 is still better than the mwc...

In the end though teams like Iowa St, Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas and I'll even throw Missouri in there staying was a good move. Missouri was denied entry into the Big 10 and where else is Baylor or Iowa State going to make that kind of money let a lone have it be guaranteed to them. No conferences were exactly beating down their door to have them as a member. Kansas also. Having said that Texas is running the show, there is no denying that so for our sake I'm glad we're gone and not having to play second fiddle to them. Nebraska will be getting the money it deserves split fair and square and that's how it should be.

135 million at best case scenario????? 60 million guarnateed to the big 3??? I have a feeling the smaller schools will not be getting the 10 million per year, like Beebe promised. Just my thoughts.

i think he made public promises and private promises to bevo. that, or TU fed beebe numbers to announce to make TU's failure of negotiating with pac 10 seem like TU really just wanted to come back to this 'great' deal.

i don,t like the system for sharing either, but its better than going somewhere eles and getting less. not sure if any big conferance will take any of the smaller schools, sadly, its all about money today. nebraska was taken by the big 10, it has a huge following when it comes to tv market...i live in phoenix, and i might even try to get the btn down here., now you take iowa state, they are just a fraction of what nu brings in tv watchers...the thing that nice about the big 10, when the cash registers are totalled, its split to the schools...not so in the big 12, should be laws regulating things like that...

Texas didn't even give the north teams the courtesy of a reach-around. Texas is still around and "saving" the con because is it's in their best interest, no other con would let Texas bigtime them. Congrats to Texas on playing the rest of the con like a cheap fiddle, you managed to come out of this better than when you started, props. To the rest of the con, especially programs other than ATM and OU, sorry about your crap luck.

everyone keeps saying that its better than those teams ending up here or there, but would it really be? I mean those teams would help beef up a conference a bit, maybe be enough to push it into automatic bcs contention, and then Texas and whatnot would be left scrambling. Texas is using fear to leverage power and those smaller teams need to get over this fear and get some similar attitude.

I'm still holding out hope that the AD's of KU/KSU/Missouri are contacting the mountain west commissioner and talking about the possibility of negotiating a tv deal with Fox or ESPN about the mountain west having those 3 schools. If those 3 bolt the big 12 is dead at 7 teams....Texass has to either keep the league and invite or move ship in which case the big12 is gone (as is their BCS spot) and the mountain west could pursue that spot.

I love ESPN's coverage....Texas saves big 12. :bs:
I saw that too, and I think I puked alittle in my mouth while watching that whole thing. Then the dumb staples of the game thing with trevor mattich about muschamp was just as bad.
