“The wolves were at the door,” Kill Anderson joked.
New coach Mike Riley helped stave them off.
Once Riley took the job — five days after Pelini was fired — several coaches called from other teams and said, if the two stuck with Nebraska, they’d be in a great situation because of Riley.
“The competition advocated for Coach Riley — and Avery paid attention to that,” Kill Anderson said.
Riley visited Eric and Avery in their homes before he visited any other prospects. Eric on Dec. 8. Avery on Dec. 9. Riley’s pitch to Avery actually started with a long talk with Avery’s younger sister, Asia.
By the end of the second night, the families talked: Would they take visits to other schools or choose to stick with Nebraska — whether Warren was retained or not?
They picked the Huskers.

That was a great write-up. These 2 have the mentality that we need on defense and from the sounds of it, don't shy away from competition.

Great read. I like the part where the families discussed whether to take more visits or not, and decided, whether or not Charlton Warren would be retained, that Nebraska will remain Nebraska -- facilities, infrastructure, all of that isn't changing.

I'm upset that there haven't been any D-Line comparisons made to Eller and Page by the local media.

A very strange idea here, it seems, most of the media, locally and nationally are trying/being very positive about this hire. Give it a try, much more fun than having a view of a Botick

Why should they try to be positive about it, is their job to be propagandists? Do they work for the ESPN branch of the Communist Party?
