The Ohio State Game

Ok, I am sick of seeing TM's name in every other thread and this is something that has had me thinking.

Does this game actually have the feel of the Texas game last year. A game that was getting the state geeked all summer, and the biggest home gameof the year.

Then you have a VERY good defensive team with the speed that can keep up with a certain QB. A top 20 defense that has carried its team even through some tough losses.

Throw in an offense that is very anemic. A freshman QB that has really yet to show anything as an offensive threat. A QB that actually could do damage with his legs much like Gilbert did last year.

Texas was a team looking for anything to ralley around coming into LIncoln. This just feels way to eerie to me, and the downer is the defense showing up Saturday is lightyears away from holding last years D's jock.

Just saying. Now let's discuss.

Ya, your right it does. I think it would be worse if we were undefeated, so I think our expectations have been lowered to a believable level, and we've been humbled. It will probably be a close game, but I think we pull it out. I agree with everything you said, I just hope the team comes out and has something prove coming off a loss, unlike Texas last year...the only difference I see between the games really.

No. It doesn't quite have the same feel as last year's Texas game. Last year's Texas game was circled on EVERY husker fan's calendar minutes after we lost to them in the 09 Big XII CCG. Then there was the whole "Red Out Around The World: Wear Red, Be Loud, BEAT TEXAS" fiasco that added even more attention to the game. There was so much pressure on us going into that game because we were a top 5 team and playing a Texas team that had absolutely nothing to lose. Couple that with a receiving core that could not catch the ball and it was a recipe for disaster.

This year, our receivers are much better and don't expect them to drop 3 TD passes....especially coming off the Wisconsin loss. I think our boys will come out fired up and hungry to prove everybody wrong. Remember that edge that Pelini's teams are notorious for having? I think you'll see it on Saturday and I think you'll see us cover the spread. Should be an electric atmosphere in Lincoln on Saturday.

yeah i think the last game let the wind out of everyones sails a bit, where as everyone was pumped to play texas last year.

It does bear similarity to the Texas game. We're in a different position now than we were then, however. Last year we were undefeated and ranked #5 in the nation. We had steamrolled everyone [aside from SDSU] and the game was probably hyped more than it should've been. This year, we are ranked 14th, and are coming fresh off of one the biggest a$$-beatings I've seen this team take. We should be angry, and should come out firing on all cylinders. Ohio State won't know what has hit them.

Maybe I should have been a hair more specific. I am not talking recordwise or stuff along those lines. More about how OSU very much resembles the Texas team that came in here

I think you are right PaulCrewe. This Ohio State team has a lot of talent like Texas and they are underachieving like Texas last year. I have always thought this would be a game we would lose if we underestimated them. Since we lost to Wisconsin the way we did...I don't feel as bad about this game. The Huskers got humbled in a big way this year, so I don't see them underestimating anyone at this point. I think it will be a good game really. Against Texas last year, I don't know if we underestimated them or tried too hard.
