I've said time and time again that his handling of the media isn't some calculated measure by him to cover things up or anything like that. It's because he's shy and would rather be doing anything in the world than talking to people who are going to dissect every single word and publish it for all to see.

And that doesn't mean he can't be a good leader either. As long as the guys wearing the red jerseys respect Taylor, he can be a good leader. Media has nothing to do with that.

My wife got really sick a few years back. Her doctor... kind of a nerd. Weird guy. Oddly uncomfortable to be around. But he knew his stuff - guy is a genius. I still have my wife today. Some guys there have some "inside" info. from trusted sources that have started to make me question the accountability on this Husker team. I hope most of the reports aren't true....

It actually really pisses me off....yet I am not letting it get to me too much because the reports could be false.

And plenty of them rip on Martinez...which is sad because I think he is doing a solid job this year...the defense needs to play better first and foremost.

There are people with "inside" info right here on HuskerBoard. And I can tell you that the "inside" info you pay for on Rivals isn't "inside" at all - at least, it's not any more "inside" than what you can get here, or any other forum with a guy who knows a guy. There, you're just paying for it.

I wonder if people would think the stuff they get from HuskerBoard would be better if they paid for it. I think some would. But it would be the same insight you'd get everywhere else.

We just happen to have cooler members than anywhere else.

Regarding BigHuskerFan... I'm a member over there, too. Don't post much, because the over-the-top Martinez hate just galls me. They think a certain brash young reporter from the Omaha paper is the bee's knees, which is nice I suppose, but it tells you something about the slant they have on the current team, the players and the coach(es).

Yeah, I don't pay for Huskersonline.com....no thanks. There is a lot of negativity on the board. I just take a gander and roam around on what others have to say from time to time. The posters on HB are the shizzznit, minus a few dousches...or 3 or 4....or 5...but yeah. This is my fav. Husker message board.

So then, the team we have now isn't the team we will have next year - since 7/11 starters are graduating...

And between last years class (redshirts) and this years class, I'm sure we are bound to see some new faces...out of a class of 20, I'm sure we might see at least 1 true freshman playing.

Also, Zaire will most likely be back.

I'm just saying there isn't going to be some influx of talent that will all of a sudden make this defense better. We aren't Alabama. We recruit projects. The same guys that are the "depth" this year and can't win playing time on this awful defense are the same guys that are going to be starting next year when the seniors depart. If a true freshman is playing, then we have issues in our player development (which we all know we do).

We also know that it takes 2-3 years in the system to be an impact player (for every David there is 11 Steins) - so last years class, and this years class don't really concern me much. 2011 is the class we should be seeing contribute next year right? So maybe Jackson gets some playing time? CB isn't going to be an issue next year so that doesn't help us overall much. Maybe Peat who is chronically injured? Unlikely. Kevin Williams is hopeful. Pirman unlikely. Santos maybe...but if he can't beat out this group of knuckleheads then that won't be much of an upgrade. So we have maybe 1 guy from the 11 class (Santos) that might be an improvement. 2 JUCO transfers (Seisay/Anderson) from the 12 class that might be improvements.

So lets go way back to 2010. A bunch of DBs, again...we're fine there. And then Rome. So 1 guy from the 10' class that might be an improvement over our current starters.

Now 2009 - next years redshirt seniors. 5 years in the system should have them all on the field right? Ankrah fits this. Another year older and he should be solid next year. Thad Randle as well. But do I think either of these guys is going to be better than the current start with another year under their belt? Will 2013 Thad be better than the 2012 Stein he's replacing? I don't see a lot of indication he will be. So maybe 1 guy from 09's class?

That's it. There really isn't anyone else. Now we're at walk-ons.

So you all are right, we likely will be playing a bunch of freshman. And it's not because our 08' or 09' classes sucked. It's because there isn't many left out of the 10' or 11' classes either. Definately not on the line. Definately not LBers. Pelini needs to live at the JUCO's this fall. I'm praying Moss/Valentine/McMullen step up in a huge way. But next year's excuses will be "they're all young, they'll be better next year". Blah.

Have to say, you are right. Was thinking the same thing a couple of days ago. We used to have a soph or two and few more Juniors getting a little more playing time, that could be starters or were good enough to step in in case of injuries and not have to much of a drop off, if any. Like you, I can't see were we will be ahead of where we are defensively this year, by next year. Zaire getting hurt will set him back for next year, until he gets some actual field time. The backups this year don't show that they could take any of the starting spots away. It seems like each year, that the new starters are having to learn the "scheme" and having trouble executing it. Jucos help but it still takes them that year to really fit in and the second year when they do get it, we are left with starting over with them graduating at the end of the season.

The offense should be awesome next year, just can't see where the defense will be any better, than we have now. Hope I'm wrong.
