I sure hope we can lure him. I think he will end up being a very good coach someday. It would be nice to have him back in the program and be able to give him the leap forward to being a head coach someday.
twistedPart of me wants a job to offered to Frost and have him turn it down, thus shunning Nebraska twice. I want to see the reaction of the “he bleeds Red” folks.
Part of me wants him to take a job as OC here if it is offered to him, have him have a couple stinker games and watch the Big Red faithful turn on him like it is 1996 all over again.
Part of me wants him to take a job at NU because I think he would be an asset to the program. Be successful as a position coach and then continue to move up in the ranks at NU and retire here.
Part of me doesn’t give a rats backside if he ever coaches at NU, although I would prefer he did.
Frost was offered a scholarship, Woodhead wasn't - so I won't blame him for his decision one bit. Saying Woodhead was unloyal because he didn't walk on is a d!(k move junior.Frost didn't come back when they changed him to safety. He came back when Walsh stepped down at Stanford. I don't know why people continue to question Frost's loyalty to Nebraska, but then go on to give someone like Danny Woodhead a pass. Frost broke all kinds of passing records while in high school. His dream was to play in the NFL as a QB. How many QB's did TO and Nebraska send to the NFL? Given the same circumstances, almost everyone in Frost's position would have chosen to play for the WCO master Walsh. Woodhead had the opportunity to walk-on at Nebraska, but he chose to take the scholly and play at Chadron. He gets a pass while Frost gets his loyalty questioned? As stated, loyalty to Nebraska may not be as high as some think. He went to Stanford to be coached by a legend in Walsh, only returned to Nebraska because they were changing him to safety.
Oregon should be the preseason number one is my guess. They keep all the talent people on the team. Winning a NC helps your resume I would guess.
I think there is a chance of him coming here, but only as the Co or OC.
It's also comical to hear people almost get down on their hands and knees and beg for a person to come back that many fans hated fifteen years ago. There were a fair amount of fans that blamed Frost for the LP implosion in 1995.
Here's my question with regards to bringing Frost back as a Co-OC: who calls the plays? My personal bias would be to get Frost back on the staff and groom him for the eventual takeover as HC once Bo either retires or moves on to another program. He's been on both sides of the ball as both a player and as a coach. He comes from a line of coaches. He just seems like a good fit.

As stated [that is, referring to something already said], loyalty to Nebraska may not be as high as some think. [As in, it could be, or it couldn't be]
I agree. I would love to see him back, but I am starting to like the whole Warriner as OLine/OC deal going on, too. I'm not sold on Beck as OC, IMO.I get the feeling he won't come here, Nebraska loyalty or not. He's in a pretty good position there and the offer would have to be very good for him to defect (OC). I would think that if he were ambitious he would want the chance to fix a horrible offense and even further cement his legacy. That would be a huge step toward rising through the coaching ranks.

"I expected everything to be easy," Frost says of quarterbacking Nebraska, "it's just been one challenge after another."

Frost and Osborne have butted heads on other occasions, as when Osborne learned last March that Frost had been patronizing one of the casinos in Council Bluffs, Iowa, an hour from campus, into the wee hours. Osborne phoned Frost at 8 a.m. to tell him not to go again. As Osborne well knew, Frost isn't an early riser.
...
"The thing that upset me the most wasn't the booing," he says. "I've come to expect that from the people around here. In the national and local media the impression went out that I was playing poorly. I had a good game that day. Even when I was doing things well, there has been a negative light."
The following week, while playing at then No. 2 Washington, Frost delivered a message to his critics. On Nebraska's first two possessions he ran for touchdowns of 34 and 30 yards to quickly put the Cornhuskers in control. Sales of the $55 number 7 jerseys at the Huskers Authentic store across the street from Memorial Stadium began to pick up. Not that Frost would win over everyone. "There are still die-hard fans who will never forgive him for going to Stanford," Taylor says. "They still say that in the local café."
I don't think it's a d!(k move at all. Woodhead not getting offered a scholly has been made a big deal for quite some time. If Woodhead would have been that confident in his abilities, he'd have walked-on and earned a scholly like so many walk-ons did in the past. Frost went to play for the guy who developed the WCO. He was also drafted back in a time when it wasn't really very common to draft a college QB and convert them to another position. It's very likely the only reason Frost got to play in the NFL was because of the time he played safety at Stanford.Frost was offered a scholarship, Woodhead wasn't - so I won't blame him for his decision one bit. I took a peek over at one of the Oregon Ducks message board and they're hoping that Frost will be made a Co-OC there with the promise that he will be OC in a couple of years just to keep him at UO. They feel the same way about him that we do. The next few days are going to be very interesting.Nexus said:The lure of working at his alma mater is apparently being dangled in front of Oregon receivers coach Scott Frost.
Nebraska coach Bo Pelini has contacted Frost about the possibility of taking a job with the Cornhuskers, the team Frost quarterbacked to the 1997 national championship. The Lincoln (Neb.) Journal Star reported late Wednesday that the two have spoken, and a UO source confirmed the interest from Nebraska in Oregon’s second-year receivers coach.
