So this is probably a small % of people, like, really small.
What people are "fighting" your word, not mine, is another meeting or another book to read or another video to watch or another roleplay or icebreaker.
Just like any "extra" stuff you have to do at work most people are not geeked up about it.
If you are in sales and your boss goes "Hey everyone, listen up, we are having a mandatory meeting on sales techniques, Friday, during lunch, don't worry, you can eat your lunch during the meeting but you do need to attend"
No one is going to be like "f#&% yes! That is awesome! I get to work through my lunch and attend a meeting" Especially if you are already really good at sales.
Now, is it a big deal in the end, no, not really. But it is also not hard to understand both sides. Most people are not "fighting DEI" they are fighting extra meetings.
You want a happy f#&%ing inclusive workforce? Pay people well, give them time off, take them out for happy hour and respect their time.
It is like the "forced" staff Xmas party, no one likes it.
