The Republican Utopia

I don't know what's going on. Trump's foreign policy is highly maleable depending on what foreign leader flattered or criticized him in the past 24 hours. But historically he's been averse to committing the U.S. military -- especially boots on the ground military -- to potentially drawn out foreign conflicts. The America First doctrine has its own odd pacifist strain, as in letting other countries kill each other -- not our problem. I'll even tip my hat to Trump for ignoring John Bolton's attempts to escalate reprisals against Iran in the first term.

But for 40 years now the dream of the rightwing think tanks hatching Republican foreign policy has been the overthrow of Tehran and westernization of Iran. Nothing to do with Israel. Preventing any new country from going nuclear always makes sense, Iran more than most. But that's not the main motivator, either. These guys simply believe, not inaccurately, that a US-friendly Iran is the key to Middle East oil, money, and whatever passes for peace.

My guess is that Trump 2.0 is all about the think tank crowd having had 10 years to watch and understand Trump, who now come into his second term with a wish list that they can get our laziest and most easily influenced President to endorse.

Is Joe really surprised by this? It happens last time around too ya dips#!t. They must have taken one of his maids or groundskeepers.
Last two admins to be exact.   I think a few folks forgot about the last four years and quit complaining.

Not to go all Lefty here, but if your tipping point on immigration is seeing a baby torn from its mother's arms, you should be extra appalled by what happens every day in Gaza. Paid for by your tax dollars. That should not be happening.

At the risk of a felony, I'd like to punch the source of that smiley emoji in the f#&%ing face.

Although I am open to hearing his explanation first.

If Kamala Harris was about to attack Iran instead of Trump they would be furious. Just a thought.
Will be interesting to see what the "No new wars!" Maga folk will say now. Obviously it was disingenuous from the start and they were just finding a reason to support their team, but still interesting to see the pivot. Its ok though Israel promises peace will sweep the middle east after this. Oh wait that was before the Iraq invasion.
