From the vibe and tone that i've gotten from NU officials in the past, TO included... is it fair to say that really the most important thing in all of this, is the sellout streak? Every single time that I can remember when an NU exective is talking legitimate head football coach seating temperature, the sellout streak is always the bottom line. Is this accurate?
If that is the case, is it also fair to analyze what over a decade withought winning will do to the psychology of even the winningest of program bases? Does this said Sellout Streak then, in effect come back to bite us? Are we ultimately being punished for supporting our team, rain or shine (pushing the sellout streak just cuz)? I'm not saying that we all blindly fill the stadium no matter what... we are aware, and I cant think of specific instances where we are attending the game and filling the stadium simply for the sake of filling it.
Let's be honest here... context in mind, the last ten years we have not been "winning". Winning what we know winning as. There will be those that scream from mountain tops that we should shut up and be happy with 4 losses. bullsh#t. Those that argue that Bo is doing the same thing that Tom and BD did in their first years, are clueless as to the context of each situation. Bo would not be relevant at all in those times as a head coach. Bo is arguably not relevant at all in THESE times as a head coach.
My point is, I'm not so sure that the dam sellout streak should be such a barometer for this program and this business. I am questioning if the same passion for winning is shared by the higher ups or is it something, rather, that never really was a passion of the higher ups and it became the perceptional standard, mainly because of two men. As far as I know this is a simple game of fill the stadium for the NU Executives. "Whatever, as long as these f'ers keep buying tickets." I am not suggesting that something should be done now [as far as coaching].. and i'm not suggest that something should've been done before. Simply getting my own barometric measure of the people driving this ship.
**don't take me including TO in the officials aspect as anything than for what it is.
