I always wondered that myself. Personally I think it looks sort of ridiculous.

It started fairly recently (last 6 years)- with Adi Kunalic, I think. It was confined to the student section, now I see those post graduates have carried it into the stands.

 
This needs to end. What the student section should do for Bondi before kick offs is the Jersey shore first pump

 
I sat in the South stadium for the SDSU game and I had my shoe off. Bit of harmless fun.

 
Maybe they should just sit there silently and bi*ch about everybody standing or yelling since so many people have forgotten why they even bother going to the game anymore.

 
Harmless fun by a bunch of "dudes"/kiddos-showing support for the underappreciated but very good deep kickers

You are only young once, it's the "privledge of youth"

MUCH better than the way the Wisconsin or Colorado students express themselves
